Hey Eric. I'm happy to provide you with the opportunity to give Lacuna Coil a listen. I really dig your perspective on what you see and hear. Thank you 🤘🤘
Christina has one of the best live voices of all time in my opinion. To hear her on the studio track does not do her justice. She sounds so clean and pristine live and so strong ❤and her voice is instantly recognisable there’s no one that sounds like her 😊
That track is around 20 years old, you’ll have to forgive the fact I can’t remember when it was released. It’s on the same album that has one of their all time most popular- heaven’s a lie. Great track, they’re incredible live and she’s a beast
Back in the early 2000s I always had Lacuna Coil on repeat in my car stereo, driving to and fro work! Always had to take care not to exceed the speed limit. Been an all-time favorite of mine ever since they started though. And I later realized that I was pen pals with Cristina (the female singer) in the 80s! Back then she was learning to play the guitar though. I'm not sure if she continued playing the guitar. According to wikipedia she was born in Milan, but I can tell you that she was actually born in a Milan suburb: Meda. This song is one of those signature songs of the band, epic! And you did them truly justice by this reaction and breakdown of the song. Thank you for that!
You are probably the first person outside my own family that I've ever heard mention the Tea Party ever. My aunt saw them in a bar in Windsor in 1992, and I've seen them live twice - once just as they were reforming in about 2011 in Hamilton, and a couple years later in Burlington with my aunt and mother. They put on an excellent live show (at least at that time), and every album has a very different vibe and feel - if you haven't caught their more recent studio stuff a lot of it is still pretty good.
Aww yay! Lacuna Coil is one of my all time favourites! Seen them live multiple times and in 2014 actually got to talk to Cristina Scabbia online for a bit, made her a custom handbag after talking to her and actually got to deliver it to her personally after the 2014 gig in London 😍 a day I will never forget! Such a great band with such a unique tone and amazing personalities who really care about their fans too ❤ been a fan over 20 years eep!
Uh, I'm a little late here but I enjoyed your analysis. I'm Italian, and quite familiar with Lacuna Coil and I absolutely adore Cristina Scabbia. This lady has a fantastic tone and an amazing control over her vocals. I've seen tons of live performances and, counting out bad days that everybody has, she's been consistent year after year, night after night. And their songs are not easy vocally. Grazie!
Interesting that listening to Swamped reminded you of The Tea Party. (Fantastic band! Ever since their disbanding Stuart Chatwood's become a great video game composer, by the way.) Since TTP were really big on middle-eastern influences (Jeff Martin once called their music "Moroccan Roll", if I remember correctly), and parts of Swamped's melody do have a certain middle-eastern tonality, that's not far off as far as associations go. Anyway, good to see you getting acquainted with Lacuna Coil. Having known them for decades, I've tried so often to warm up to Andrea's vocals, but I've never quite managed. (I do like his growls, however, so you might wanna check out their 2019 single Reckless.) Cristina's worth her weight in gold, though, ridiculously talented singer, and both are extremely nice and likeable people with a lot of classics under their belt. And damn, I love listening to you talk about life colors and how you describe the atmosphere of a song. Just beautiful.
Thanks man! When TTP dropped Splendor Solis, our station added "The River" and "Save Me" and the joke was "What if Led Zeppelin had Jim Morrison as lead singer?". Both bands having used Mid-Eastern vibes in their own songs. I'll check out that other track, but the best place to get me a suggestion so I can stay organized is over at the Discord server. A whole sub devoted to RU-vid suggestions. That way, I can go into the sub, do the video, delete it so things don't pile up. As the channel has grown, I am needing a better and more fairer way to select videos. Cheers, Eric
That almost jodel reminded me a bit of Dolores O’Riordan , I can’t figure out if I ever listened to Lacuna Coil before because I have definitely heard of them and I know Christina from her working with Arjen Lucassen.
Hello Eric, great reaction ! If you would like to continue your journey with Laguna Coil I suggest "Blood, tears, dust" from the same show. The combination of the female and the male singer in this song for me is outstanding :-) Best regards Thomas
Cristina is the second oldest. I think SKin that singed with Pavarotti is the oldest of these rock metallers.. Sandra Nasic is younger.. but so far Cristina seems to be the best vocalist singer of all times for now.
Great reaction. Shout out to Ruthless Biscuit for requesting this. My favorite Lacuna Coil song. This is my favorite version. Lacuna Coil did a new recording of the Comalies album this song is from called Comalies XX in 2022 that was heavier and more emphasis on Andrea's harsh vocals which was interesting but I love the original arrangement here the best. They also have my favorite metal Christmas Song, Naughty Christmas. A fun song about misbehaving children afraid that Krampus is coming for them. The lyric video visual has a great 80's Christmas animated TV show feel to it. I already have a song in the request que so I encourage another Lacuna Coil fan to submit Naughty Christmas on the Discord.
