This is an instructional video on how to build an A frame type style, outdoor or indoor, ladder plant stand.
Supplies needed:
(3) 2x4x8 framing boards or (6) 2x2x8
(2) 1x10x6
(2 pack) 1.5" hinges
(1 can) wood stain of your choice
(Rip 3) 2 x 4's in 1/2 to create 6 2x2's
(cut 4) 2x2's to 7 feet long
(cut 8) 9.5" long 2x2's
Directions for building planter
use hinges to join 2 of the 7' 2x2's together.
drill holes every 16" on both sides of a frame.
attach all 8 of the 9.5" long 2x2's (4 on each side)
place the 2nd A-frame stand on top of the attached 2x2's to form a ladder shape
Spread the A-frame out to a width of 42"
Cut the 1x10" common boards to the following lengths
4.5' long
3.5' long
2.5' long
1.5' long
attached all 4 shelves to the planter.
stain the planter.
decorate with plants.
I recommend attaching the planter to the wall for extra stability. I screwed mine into the brick with mortar screws

Great job! Made it so easy to follow! You are brave for wearing sandals and working on your beautiful hardwood floors. Look forward to more videos

Yes I agree with some of the other comments, there are some safety issues here. Putting all that aside I like the build looks super easy something just about anybody could do even without all of the power tools that you used. I'm actually going to try and build this this weekend but I think instead of putting screws through the deck boards I will put chains on the two legs so that I can make it adjustable

Sureley it would be easier to construct the 2 ladders first and then hinge together?

I really like this style of plant stand. Thank you for your tutorial. But just a friendly advice: please use a different type of music next time. It's too loud LOL but other than that, the video is great!

Thank you for the plans. Came back to write down measurements before heading out to HD. Was wondering if you remember the color name of the stain you used? I really liked the rustic look of yours. I d like to be able to compare a few looks. For me this was the only thing missing from video, showing a side shot of tools needed/used might have shown the stain can better. I liked you had measurements on screen to pause and write down. I liked you named ea. screw size. I have been meaning to build a plant stand for a window, just didn't know what. Easy peezy. Thank you.

thank you for getting back to me. I found a interesting stain color of "Worn Navy". Another question for you. I am terrible with tape measurements. for the support pieces you say 9.5", is that 9 1/2" on tape measure. The common boards are 10" wide how does that fit on a 9.5" (or 9 1/2"). Sorry for strange questions that should be like duh! I build things but don't necessarily use odd measurements. I keep it simple, either on the in" mark or the 1/2. When replacing what others have done is where I come across using the 1/4 or 3/8 on tape. (always wonder why they just didn't take it to the inch mark or even the 1/2) so I am learning. Thanks again. Soon to have my own plant stand finally.

Great video and, in my opinion, great build. We heard you very good. Maybe it was something related to the weather IDK but try next time to do it outside so you'll have plenty of light. Other than that I believe you are doing great. I aspire to start my own RU-vid channel just like you

Use your table saw safely.

First, I love how it turned out. However, here's the critique. Safety, safety, safety! Sandals in the shop, no eye protection, no hearing protection, and I don't know where to begin on the table saw usage. I had to stop watching the build to skip to the end because of the cringing... Additionally, the only reason I made it as far as I did was my curiosity to see the end product in the thumbnail. You have 15 seconds to catch a RU-vidr's attention, and the screeching at the beginning and the waaaay long intro just killed my interest. (Sorry... but I do love the final product!)

Good job ,No offence but even when you are careful accidents happen. this is a perfect vidieo on how not to use a table saw. Please be careful .By the way its been two weeks since I saw this vid and the hair on the back of my neck still is standing

Pretty dangerous to cut wood across the grain like that. Should use a miter gauge.

I would give you the same advice, just cut it down and get to the point it makes for a much better video and it's what people on RU-vid want
