BEAUTIFUL!! I did not waste one moment of time watching this, I'm soon to be dancing Fancy Shawl as well, I was looking at videos for practice, & came across yours. ASTONISHING! I love your outfit, footwork, & spins. You're a prize winner to me! I want/need your moves lol, take care.
Thank u for representing our native culture with respect and joyful pride!! I never danced but would love to have my daughters dance. I love the fancy shawl, Nizhoni
Wow your so beautiful!! I love what the guy narrating said how women are honoured in your culture because they are the backbone of the communities! Your culture is also beautiful!
everytime i listen to this, makes my heart pound with anticipation. i would love to dance like this. i would love to represent my native american culture this way. its so beautiful. such amazing balance and footwork. the colors are astonishing you were absolutely wonderful.
I love at 5:25 when you did the steps to the honor beats! I used to fancy dance back when i was younger but i had to put it aside & raise my kids... I've been teaching my girls how to fancy dance though & they are pretty good :) Love ur regalia & you dance beautifully btw :)
im a jingle dress dancer and i represent the medicine wheel and all kinds of native medicines and im 11 yrs old and just to say im proud to be native ! i love my people!
She's soooo pretty, and her moves are BEAST! I hope to dance...soon. Lol videos of good dancers like this are what keep me motivated..love this dance more than any other.
And we gotta give it to you Jingle Dress dancers too... I love watching the jingle dress dancers. You all dance so gracefully & the sound of all them jingles together is just amazing & peaceful. Jingle Dress may not be as fancy as Fancy Shawl, but it takes just as much time & practice to know how to do it & its just as beautiful. I grew up dancing traditional, but once i seen Fancy dance i had to learn it. I started fancy dancing when i was 11 :)
Women's fancy dance is my favorite and this is fantastic! I'll never understand how women dancers can move their feet in such amazing patterns and so lightning quick. You have so much to be proud of. What nation are you? Much love and respect from San Diego.
it's so refreshing to see a fancy shawl dancer respecting your shawl and not relying on tons of neon colors and flashy-ness. Thanks for respecting our dance girl! keep it up!
Beautiful. It's great to see you represent our people and fancy in a foreign nation in a good way! Many foreigners get little exposure other than TV so this is awesome :-)
My favorite dance was always the Crow Hop, i loved dancing to crow hop... I actually danced a few years back (Not in full regalia). They had this little side contest going on at the school for any dancers, with or without regalia. So i took my shawl started dancing & won... Won a powwow cd and 100 bucks :) People were happy to see me dancing again & said i should start back up.
Beautiful dance!!! Your moves are inspiring...im an artist myself so just seeing your body connect with the music reminds me of how I feel when I connect to a song and its tempo. Keep doing what you do...its us the small people who make the big changes by doing what we enjoy.
And also to stay on ur toes the whole time ur dancing... Its not easy & takes many years of practice... I used to Fancy Shawl Dance too, now i'm teaching my girls :)
I love it. Represent! Just learned a new Fancy Shawl song n cant wait to sing it aloud for the dancers. The fast beats are too much fun!! love and medicine to all the goodhearts, but I have my bahlohat for all you domats! Native Pride!!
Hello :) The fancy dance has been adopted by many different aboriginal tribes across north america. The Powwow has turned into more of a universal celebration amongst the North American tribes. Im sure if you go to the Gathering of Nations in New Mexico, you will find people from all over Canada and the US repping their nation :)
Hey I don't know if you remember me, but I took part in your workshop at the buffalo symposium in Calgary this year... Maybe you would remember me by my Red hair lol... thats how most do... I just wanted to say this was amazing! Im starting to fancy dance this year! If you're in Calgary, do you think maybe we could meet up one day so you could teach me some fancy moves :) It would be super cool!
Like it and I truly like the story of how the woman keep man balance in life and are the giver of life and everyone must agree dancer dance for grandfather and are mother earth and our way of life. When you sweat in some lodge you respect the way it is done in their traditional way, I see the dancer for the spiritual part because a true dancer you will see the wind, deer, grass etc in them and that's power
@TimberNightSong Yeah! I had to learn when I was little, maybe 9 or 10! It's learnable, but you have to be a bit light on your feet! You're moving constantly to different drum beats of the song, and adrenaline is usually pumping, but afterward you feel great! It's an amazing form of dance, so I can still do it, but I dance Ladies Traditional now...I danced fancy for about four years! It brings you so much closer to the Cherokee community! I think any girl can do it...if you just have confidence
Beautiful dance little girl...im crying your heart was in that dance what a beautiful heart it is also...thank u for sharing your gift with me, a stranger and yet a sister...though we may all be miles oceans rivers mountains apart...i am no farther than where you place your hand to your heart because that is where i stay with you and also my hand on my heart is where i keep you and the memory of this beautiful gift ,..your dance, here in my heart also.
thank you for sharing your dance with other people that they would and will understand the native culture a little bit better, may the creator watch over you and your family and friends as the years pass a-ho
she's covering basic steps until the 5:00 mark, if you think it isn't happening, forward to that, and then she begins with what is termed "fancy dance" ...
I was laying down and watched this, and I looked at a one of my paintings, and didn't realize there was a butterfly painted on it. About 15 seconds later I looked back at it and I realized there was a butterfly ^-^
Love this I grew up going pow pows and my brother and sister use to dance when we was little and I'm so happy I found these videos brings back so many memories!
@TimberNightSong Not skipping, but did you see in the video where she's moving her feet very quickly and not faltering? And that she crosses her feet and twirls when the beats are faster? That's technically what I mean by light on your feet! You're moving so quickly that if you don't want to mess up you have to concentrate and stay focused!
