I have an awkward relationship with my mom, affection was never a thing growing up and now as an adult she questions why I’m not willing to show her love is mind blowing. It feels uncomfortable and awkward and please don’t touch me. When mothers day rolls around and everyone is posting how much their mother loves them and their mother is their world, I feel guilt in a way for not feeling like that at all. Our relationship is almost nonexistent. However, when it comes to my own kids, I’m trying so hard to break those generational problems. I would be so interested in discussions like this. Thank you for sharing ☺️

I think it's so important to have open conversations about this too. I love that you're intentional about changing things for your own kids. I had the same dynamic with my dad, who passed away when I was almost 14. I miss what our relationship could've been, but not what it was, although I do love him and appreciate that he provided financially and was protective of me. Despite living with him for almost 14 years I didn't really, really know him. I've been so careful about choosing a man to make a family with, because he has to be family-oriented.

I'm with you as well didn't get along with my mom either I tried but now she's passed away wish we did but I know she cared for me during my hospital days and when I was sick but when it comes to a normal conversation it didn't go well , anyways love 😍 ya even you're a stranger but you have some things to relate and to me I feel like you're my friend LOL 😂

I feel this with every bone in my body. Esp when you said that she is blown away when you dont show affection or question why you arent willing to show her love. like where was that affection when I was growing up?? I'm now a mom and I make sure that I cuddle and kiss and tell her how much I love her. I dont want her to grow up and not really know if I love her or not. I want her to know that no matter what im here and I will always be there for her and that I will always love you no matter what she does. She can always call me and I will be there no judgement.

This was a really touching video Dani! I’ve been a long time watcher of your channel but rarely comment. I just wanted to say that you taught me how to make roasted sweet potatoes and I do it for my family at least a few times a month. Everyone loves it and I love how I can vary the spices depending on who is home. We also have a blended family and I really appreciate your transparency and outlook on how to make things work!

I work in a nursing home. We had a man (mr. Marty) and a woman (Mrs peggy) that were residents there, and they were in their late 80s. They started dating and actually got married in our nursing home, we had a big wedding and after party for them. They lived happily with each other for another 6 years, until Mrs. Peggy passed in her sleep, and Mr. Marty then passed about 3 months later.... it was amazing to watch them together. So you can find love at any age!..... Love these videos!

Dani I know you enjoy quotes (as do I) and this one really helped me. Be aware of your weakness and bring them to God before the enemy brings them to you. Also (more of a prayer): God, Keep my anger from becoming meanness. Keep my sorrow from collapsing into self pity. Keep my heart soft enough to keep breaking. Keep my anger turned towards justice, not cruelty. Remind me that all of this, every bit of it is for love. Keep me fiercely kind. Amen.

I have never as a child had the ok to cry. Not even when I was whipped by my mom...had to count the whips. I am 56 yrs old. Had to be strong for soooo many reasons in my life. Never had time or afforded myself the luxury to cry. I found out about 26 yrs ago I was born with LUPUS and was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 17 yr ago. Divorced and twice widowed I had to build a wall because I had to beautiful girls that depended on me and needed me. And I sometimes failed at that too. But they are both happily married and blessed me each with 3 grandbabies of which we were blessed with twin girls. I got married again 25 yrs ago and are happy enough but my illnesses destroyed my womanhood which thankfully my 74 yr old husband now gets. I have never dealt with anything that happened to me in my life of which the worst was seeing the love of my life slowly die in front of my eyes while caring for him for a yr as he had malignant melanoma cancer and there was no cure. He was 25. ...Today I clicked on your video and from nearly start and right to the end and after I could not stop crying. Starting to wash my soul of all I have kept inside. I was adopted and never felt I belonged anywhere. But I have walked your journey with you since after your divorce and always felt close to you as a mother. But my sweet sweet girl today your were my mentor, my healing hand and all I want to say is thank you darling for you will never know what your video and your amazing kind and true words meant to me today. It felt like your were talking only to me and lol I even answered you a few times and agreed all the time like we were face to face. I am not a hugger also as my mom was the same as your mom in that regard, but how I wished to hold you fir a fleeting moment. Sorry this is a long a@@ message lol.... but I just had to let you know what you mean to me. May you and your beautiful family each and every member human and fur be blessed always. Dani, I'm 27 and I have followed you since 2015 and always felt you were like an older sister to me. I chose to heal my inner child over starting my career in my early twenties due to several very traumatic events in childhood and early adulthood, one resulting in my not receiving a Master's degree that I am owed. I had to start over completely and in should hopefully graduate and start a career before I'm 30. The world has become such a horrible and cruel place especially in the last few years and personally I have/had made the defensive decision that I don't want to have children to spare me the pain of even hoping I could even have kids (my mom had trouble with having kids), bringing innocent lives into this horrendous hateful world, passing on mental disorders and generational trauma among many other reasons. Your talk about societal timelines and having children and experiencing a connection to them or the idea of them moved me to tears. This video of yours will help me so so much on my life journey as societal timelines are immensely hurtful emotionally. Through this video, you're helping me learn to be gentler on myself and that releasing the construct of these timelines especially when seeing social media "friends" hitting these milestones. Thank you so much Dani, and may all your prayers be blessed and manifest❤

Omg Dani, yes! I am *all about* giving kids explanations and reasons. I remember getting so incredibly frustrated when I was a kid, because I didn’t understand why I was required to do some things. All I wanted was an explanation so I could understand, and when I *did* get one it made things so much easier! (I didn’t get an explanation often tho.) And so much yes to the apologizing! I’ve apologized to my kids so many times, and of course I teach them to be open with apologies and admitting when they are wrong/addressing mistakes. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Amen to structured raising of children. I call it tough love (discipline tempered with love), and my 3 turned out fabulous...loving, responsible, and hard-working. Kids nowadays are raised thinking the world revolves around/owes them, never thinking about others, or being appreciative for what they have. Mine had to work for what they wanted extra, and contribute to the family chores. Also, yes, libido comes from our brain. That's how my body works, too.

Happy Saturday Dani! Love this video!! Thanks for sharing your parenting style. I don't have kids yet, so it's very informative. My parents used corporal punishment with me (sparingly) but I didn't fear them. I definitely respected them and it made me think twice about breaking rules. Maybe it was because I was the apple of my mother's eye (I was with her 24/7 like a baby koala). She was orphaned and always wanted a daughter. And my dad, who although he was super busy so we weren't close unfortunately, would literally cry after spanking me. They also explained expectations and were really happy that I was born (only child for 6 years), so maybe that cancelled out the harm many other people experienced from corporal punishment. However, they weren't perfect and screwed with my head in other ways...I will just say one spouse sticking with a cheating partner for 18 years to protect the kids, isn't necessarily protecting them and it's harmful to the spouse whose emotional and physical health is being abused.

I completely relate to having difficulty making female friends, as I relate to very few. A lot of women have ended up backstabbing me. It's hard for me to open up to new people, especially if there is misaligned energy. Energy is everything and I've learned this through my Reiki education and spiritual journey. OMG Dani I 100% resonant with what you said about physical touch. I had zero affection my either of my parents growing up. I remember hugging my mum as an adult and it felt so awkward & unnatural. As dumb as it sounds. So now I'm exactly the same with my partner. His love languages is physical touch & I am like DO NOT TOUCH ME 😒 Its affected our relationship negatively of course but we've never communicated properly about it.

I am 23 years old. I have never been on a date. I’m a nurse living in downtown Columbus Ohio and doing alright for myself. What you said about dating yourself and going on that journey with yourself really hit hard. There is a spectrum from ‘kids raising themselves’ and a ‘very’ structured daily life. I find too much structure (especially for boys) takes away their sense of initiative and creativity which they need to develop themselves on their own time. I’ve gradually learn to relax on the scheduling …

Your first topic of trusting the timing in your life. My daughter wants nothing to do with me now because i choose to divorce her dad. I'm hoping that it'll work out. I text her every now and then without getting a response back (and that's okay! I don't expect one back. Just hopeful). I just hope one day she'll understand why I did it and come around. Sometimes trusting the timing of your life is hard. Especially around holidays and her birthday. It's so tough

I’ve been single since 2013, and it’s not until now that I’m BEGINNING to think that I may want a companion. MAYBE 🤔. My life is hard but peaceful and I’m ok being without a husband. I do deal with people always wanting to fix me up with a man but they’re never good enough to give up my peaceful happy life. It’s going to take an amazing man to come into my life. The age thing hit me in my soul. I will be 30 in November and we don't have any children. I have a God daughter who I love to pieces we have her 5 days a week. However we are registered foster and adoptive parents. We haven't gotten any placements yet and it's been 2 years. I just got laid off from my job. We don't own our house or out car. The depo shot made me gain alot of weight. I feel like I've failed. The amount of people who make me feel less than a mother because I'm choosing to adopt is so hurtful.

I giggled.. since that is what Phil is.. who is almost 4. I have heard that Labs do not mature .. til about 4.. And yes, I also do home made hamburgers with that recipe. 🤓 The first ceviche I dare to eat was the one I made from your video. I think I was scare of trying it until you explained. And It was a hit in my house (I made it with tostones instead of tostadas 🙃). You are a great teacher, I can vouch for that.

I have low self esteem as well due the way my family treated me and I was alone didn't have brothers or sisters growing up maybe step but they weren't really always together since they didn't live with me and yes I have depression and anxiety you're not alone and now a days it's most of us ... love 😍 always

Hey Dani! Thank you for the video. I lost my furry daughter this year as well. I am still coping with her loss as I am a lone soul. I do want to adopt another dog, but I feel like I would be cheating on her. I am not ready, but eventually my hope is to adopt another furry friend.

It took me a while to bond with my baby. They put him on my chest after he was born, and I was like okay, he looks like his dad. It took some time. I didn't have younger siblings to look after, I didn't babysit, so my experience with babies was puppies and kittens. LoL My mom isn't a very warm woman, and she was preoccupied with her life. My parents were in the middle of moving from the home they had lived in for 25 years. My husband wasn't really supportive either.

I have followed your journey mostly because of the many parallels to my life and share similar ideology to raising kids and breaking generational curses (traditional Mexican family, mother of 2, married young, etc) I try very hard to be a better daughter, better mother, better wife, better Human, but it’s hard to deal with it all! Do you have any recommendations of books for any of these topics, or any ideas to cope with it all? 💖🐼

But I had a not so nice relationship with my mom but as I got older 🧓 and it was too late by then it's notme or her it was the way she was brought up with her mom and her dad at war and my grandmother had 6 kids to take care on her own so I'm sure it was really hard back then ... love 😍 ya and your new family

Thanks Dani wish my husband would help me more around the house 🏡 cause my health issues became more harder but he's Mexican nationality but he was born and grew up in California and he's 12yrs older then me so his mom did everything for him and his brother to the point he doesn't do any chores except maybe vacuum his room and some laundry of his own at times but when it comes to clean or fix things he slacks off and it's annoying and he doesn't do them until months or even years later then stuff breaks down and expensive to fix the house like our AC upstairs just broke back in end of June in Vegas it was the hottest time and it cost $8,000 we didn't have up front yes it's old but he doesn't get them serviced or clean them to prevent... anyways I can't do much anymore so I need help but he never listens ugh help me understand I try to talk to him over and over for 19yrs going on 20yrs in September 2022 of being together married 16yrs yikes 😜

Me too Dani I get along more with men maybe cause my dad brought me up my mom left me and my dad when I was 6yrs old but they were never married 👰 but my Dad got married to his wife back when I was 12yrs old and she's a very mean lady she only married my Dad cause for money 💵 but also the guy she wanted went with her friend instead LOL 😂 SHE WAS VERY ABUSIVE to me and my Dad to the point I left when I was 17yrs old to live with my mom and she is married to a nice guy my step Dad and they moved out in Vegas 2003 and brought me as well and i met my husband out here its a different culture shock to us coming from upstate NY but unfortunately my mom passed away back in February 2020 a week or 2 weeks after my birthday 🎂 due to aggressive cancer that the Dr's couldn't keep up ...
