I think he’s a bit confused about how plea deals work. It’s not always about giving up information or “snitching”. Sometimes it’s easier for everyone to simply sit down for a plea deal instead of spending months of resources and money on trials. Trials are VERY costly for everyone involved so if the prosecutor and defendant(s) can reach an agreement to avoid going through all of that then they will. I know plenty of people who took plea deals without telling on anyone. We gotta stop with that false narrative.

No that’s called an open plea where you admit your end guilt and the feds/da come to an agreement about how much time they can give you. In the feds you have to give someone up to take a high end rico plea to strike a deal with the feds period. If you don’t then you’re most likely gone be convicted before trial especially with the feds and they can do whatever they want to you after trial. So just because there is no paperwork don’t mean he didn’t make a statement.

In almost every criminal case they offer a deal. Even if you're caught red handed. It cost money to go to trial and they offer deals to avoid taking the time of trial. Your lawyer can argue for a better deal or you can reject it outright. They may offer you one or two more depending on the crime and how strong their evidence is. In a plea deal, the "somebody" u often give up is not an outside person, but rather yourself. You give up your right to fight and possibly win. And the prosecution (state or fed) team has a sentencing number they are willing to give u in exchange - where u avoid the high end of your sentencing range that will be coming (by way of the judge) if u lose in trial. Giving up others is what u can feel confident may have happened... in the event that one's sentencing seems wayyy too light for what they are charged with (and the prosecution likely has evidence of).

When you accept a plea a deal you save them the trouble of going to trial but a judge can still approve/deny it which might seem trial-ish...Yet & still that's what they get which is why they give you a point reduction that will allow for 30 years vs life sentence

The point he's making is, based on the nature of the crimes, mandatory minimums, etc. BMF should have been given much longer sentences, if not the death Penalty. To get 30 year sentences, which may have been lessor than what the guidelines recommended, maybe they cooperated!!

This is not hard to understand. When you’re as big of a fish as Meech and T were, you have a whole team of high-priced, well connected lawyers who can negotiate this deal in exchange solely for a guilty plea. Prosecutor gets a huge feather in his hat and can tell the world he took down a nation-wide drug ring and parlay that into lucrative opportunities in the future
