I don’t that’s what Charlotte was saying. She was saying I should have been told about it from the beginning. Which is reasonable… she was angry at Augusta not George, if you go back to the episode she overheard George speaking to his mother where he said you told not let her know me to protect the secrets of the crown. So now she worked out the secrets and went to confront the person who had asked for the secrets to be kept. Those days there was stigma people didn’t know how to address it and peopl where institutionalised once they know the are mentally unwell.

Thanks for your reaction! I’m happy about the exploration of sexuality and desire for companionship within older women. They don’t stop having feelings when their husbands die. They still have desires and it’s important that this show covered it.

Another great reaction!. I, too, was curious-so I looked it up. The pregnancy quickening is when the baby starts moving (4-5 months) Also, I've had this discussion with my friends: Food for thought - Violet was a little girl in episode 5 (12-14), with that said, when would have been a good time for Lady D. to tell her that she had an affair with her father? I say never. But, I would love to hear opinions.

I say never as well

I also say never, if Violet knew it would probably change her perspective of her father but he was a genuinely nice man who loved his daughter more than anything. I wouldn’t want that to be tarnished!

7:40 You guys misunderstood Lady Danbury's line about being promised when she was 3. See the movie, "Coming to America" if you want to understand what this sentence means. In that movie, Eddie Murphy plays a prince who is engaged to a girl who was promised to him when they both were children, and he didn't meet that girl until his engagement party. He tried to get to know the girl by asking her, what do you like to do? She answered, whatever you like to do. What do you think of X... She answered, whatever you think of X. That's what Lady Danbury is talking about. 10: 57 Men would not respond to a woman's letter out of fear that people might think that they were having an affair. As a matter of fact, that's how Eloise's love story begins in the Bridgerton books.

We definitely didn’t misunderstand what we she meant, we just think it’s crazy that her parents promised her at the age of 3 to a man who was at least in his thirties at the time
@kemery22222
@kemery22222 Год назад
That’s really not the same thing. Your example is two children promised to each other. In this show, a toddler was promised to an adult man. Not that either is a good thing.

24:58 It did. In real life William was 20 years older (at least) than Adelaide, but in spite of that and in spite of the fact that there were no children (between them - William had 10 illegitimate children by then, Adelaide was one of the few women who was willing to marry him in spite of that fact and actually apparently got on pretty well with them), by all accounts theirs was a happy and affectionate marriage.

Lord Ledger is not old. Violet is a 12 year-old child. The actor who played Lord Ledger is the same age as the actor who played Prince Adolphus. Also, I consider Violet his daughter instead of him being her father, because Lady Danbury, a grown ass woman, met him first. AgathaS and Violet have only gotten to the point where they could talk about gardens in this show. That's not a long deep friendship. It's so annoying for people to keep acting like they were school friends who had sleepovers together.
@melsaint8616
@melsaint8616 Год назад
They were not close friends, and Lady D, does not have to tell Violet anything, she doesn’t owe Violet that information, now that Violet knows , she can choose to answer her questions if she wants to, but she absolutely did not owe her that information.
@TheCornerverse
@TheCornerverse Год назад
He’s not old, but he is older than Lady Danbury by some margin. Just because the actors are the same age doesn’t mean the characters are😂 Lady Danbury didn’t meet him first though?? Didn’t they only introduce themselves to each other at the Danbury ball? I agree that Lady Danbury doesn’t owe Violet the information, we’re just shocked that she chose to become good friends with the daughter of a man who she had a fling with
@sabcam2000
@sabcam2000 4 месяца назад
That's not true. The actor playing Adolphus is 36 now (probably 34 when this was filmed and looking much younger) and the one playing Ledger is 40/41 (probably 38/39 when it was filmed, if the internet infos are correct, which I doubt). Either way, he would be the oldest looking 40 year old ever, but anyway, he clearly plays someone older in the show. He is in his 40s. Just like the man playing Agatha's husband also plays an older man. He is definitely older than her but he looks quite alright irl and certainly not on the breach of death as in the show.

I don't agree that Violet's dad was much younger than Lord Danbury. In episode 3, Violet said that Lord Danbury attended Eaton with King George's father, and if King George is in his early to mid 20s, then his dad would probably be in his late forties to early 50s, the same age as Lord Danbury, so how old do you think Lord Ledger is? In this TV show, Violet is 12 years old, and Lady Danbury is in her mid to late 20s, married, and widowed with four kids.
@abcbandb
@abcbandb Год назад
@@MrPassion4truth I'm guessing that Lord Danbury and King George's father were significantly older than Lord Ledger. George's father and Lord Danbury would be closer to mid to late 50s since the Dowager looks about mid to late 40s--she would have been married significantly younger than her husband to be able to bear as many royal heirs as possible. Lord ledger is probably in his mid to late 40s like the Dowager--with Lady ledger being in her mid to late 30s having had Violet only 12-14 year ago. All in all, my guess is that Lord Danbury had about 10 years on Lord Ledger

1:00 I sincerely love your reactions but with that said, I would not want you two sitting on a jury if I were accused of a crime, because even after you've seen all the evidence, you're still blaming the doctor. Exhibit A, George told the doctor to do his most severe treatments, and the doctor agreed under certain conditions that George accepted. Initially, the doctor only wanted to use psychotherapy as a treatment plan. (Remember the first scene where the doctor spoke calmly to George on the day he married Charlotte?) Exhibit B, when George fired the doctor, you didn't want to believe that Charlotte, who had no knowledge of these treatments, would want Monroe to be her doctor. Exhibit C, you have forgotten how many times the Princess Dowager has made references to other doctors implementing even harsher treatments, probably dating back to George's childhood. 5:55 Queen Charlotte wasn't allowed to go places "during her honeymoon" phase. This didn't extend to times after the honeymoon. 7:01 What I noticed about Bridgerton was, all the women were widows, which granted them the right to do things without their husbands' permission, but Queen Charlotte shows the downside of not having a man around the house. 27:27 When Charlotte finds the King being tortured, I don't know why she didn't order more severe punishment for the doctor and his cohorts. From her perspective, the doctor should be arrested and executed, not just sent home with a slap on the wrist. 29:06 Lady Danbury couldn't predict the future when she slept with Lady Bridgerton's dad. She had no idea that almost 50 years later, she would become friends with Lady Bridgerton. Lady Danbury is in her 70s in the modern timeline. 35:57 When you talk about the heavy lifting for racial equality, you can't ignore the Princess Dowager. Without her, none of this would have happened. She was the one who invited the people of color to the wedding and refused to cancel events when white members of the Ton didn't want to go along. I seem to remember Queen Charlotte being more concerned about what George was doing in the garden, and Lady Danbury did take steps that just happened to benefit "our people", but those steps also benefited herself too. Lady Danbury was no Harriet Tubman, let me tell you that.
@melsaint8616
@melsaint8616 Год назад
The dowager princess didn’t do anything for the benefit of the black population, she did all that for her own good, granted she initiated it, but Lady Danbury truly took full benefit of that open door, for herself and for her people.
@MrPassion4truth
@MrPassion4truth Год назад
Not only did Princess Dowager initiate this, but she was the sole person dealing with the backlash from white, upper class society, including from the wives of Parliament, who didn't want "these people" playing their reindeer games, and her response to the white people of the Ton, like Lady Ledger was, "Suck it up. I'm not changing my mind." When she said things like, the King thinks, she meant, I've decided ... For the record, this didn't benefit black people; this benefited filthy, rich people of color, of which Lady Danbury was one of those people. Lady Danbury wasn't Harriet Tubman trying to free the slaves, she was a rich girl trying to hold on to her newly acquired position, and that position was bestowed upon her and the rest of the people of color by the Princess Dowager, and for that reason alone, the Princess Dowager also deserves credit. Even civil rights icons couldn't have done everything they did without white benefactors, and Princess Dowager played that role. From a writing perspective, you want to let Queen Charlotte make the final decision on the status of these titles, even though for the entire story, she had shown no concern for people of color.
@melsaint8616
@melsaint8616 Год назад
@@MrPassion4truth I hear you, but let’s not act like the dowager did this to truly unite society, she above all wanted to protect her son, the end . She did all this for her son, since they brought her a “ brown “ girl, she needed to make her acceptable and so, smart lady that she is she included the black elite, not because she cared for the division between the races so far, but because that’s what was good for her son. Now as for lady D, she also selfishly wanted to benefit from this personally but she then understood that “ her people” could benefit as well. The story did not go beyond the ramifications for all black elite to include those not of the ton, so I can’t comment on that, what did anyone think of the “ colonies” , that they briefly mentioned? Here comes this clearly half black Queen marrying into this family, she doesn’t even seemed to know the plight of people of color in that society, she needed to be guided by Lady Danbury, what type of society she had back in Germany? We don’t know, as the show did not get that deep, as they shouldn’t. If Lady Danbury was not shrewd in her dealings with the dowager, the great experiment would have failed , you would have had black people with titles but still separate , still not included, still not treated as true members of the ton, we certainly would not have this inclusive society that we see in season 1&2, that is all because of lady D.

We aren’t judging the Doctor based on a criminal aspect though, but a moral aspect. We disagree with what he is doing to George because it is wrong and immoral, regardless of whether George asked him to. Even when George asked him to stop he subtly threatened to treat Charlotte if he chose not to continue. His unwillingness to stop persisting with the torture is wrong
@MrPassion4truth
@MrPassion4truth Год назад
@@TheCornerverse I look at George's treatment like cancer treatments. Even though the treatment cause unbearable pain, people will suffer through it because they and their doctors believe these treatments work, and before you say, we have scientific evidence that cancer treatments work, that wasn't the case with the first people who suffered through those treatments, and in this story, George is the very first test case, so people, even in modern society, generally don't look at doctors as criminal, regardless of how much pain they cause, and this was even more so 200 years ago. For the record, Doctor Monroe wanted to do psychotherapy, but George specifically asked him to do his most severe treatments.
