Hey guys! Just wanted to make a few points after reviewing comments: 1) There’s no need to bring politics into this. We all have our own opinions, but let’s keep them to ourselves & just enjoy the performance! You can never change someone else’s politics, especially by fighting in RU-vid comments haha. So just be nice! 2) Her & Whitney Houston are two different artists with different styles; no need for comparisons. They were fans of each other. 3) It may not seem like it, however comparing this to her inauguration performance is irrelevant & insulting. Two different performances, 5 years apart, of course there’s differences! 4) Lastly, a little side note. Stop being a conspiracy theorist & get the vaccine. Let’s eradicate this virus like we did polio.
People were very surprised at Kesha being able to sing as well, I think it's because they both used to sing these overproduced party songs that didn't show their abilities
Really interestingly, that was Marlee Matlin. She's a famous actor--she was one of the first (if not the first) deaf actor in US television. I saw her and was like, "How they get Marlee Matlin out here?" But I forgot she still will do sign language interpretation for major events to keep spotlight on the deaf and hearing impaired communities. She's a gem. Have loved her forEVER 💜
Cherie Johnson Whitney’s version sets the bar of what to do when singing the National Anthem, however I feel Lady Gaga did an awesome job as well. Two powerful women with equally powerful voices making people proud to be American
I agree. But this version is so magnificent, i don't know why she wouldn't have replicated if the vocal cords still cord. Her inauguration version was not traditional - it had 5/4 bars amongst the 3/4
I feel it important to note here, Lady Gaga doesn't lip sync because she considers it disrespectful to her audience. This is her singing live, and she f*cking nailed it.
@@Babigh0ulll Yes, and even on television programs that normally expect artists to lip synch a pre-recorded vocal, she is know to always still sing live. She doesn’t consider her show to be legitimate and valid unless the live element is present.
@@Babigh0ulll not so! Where she drunkenly fell off her piano bench. Loved it. You are a fukn puppet. Go away you shitweasels. Go censor real artist's for playing at republican events. HYPOCRITES DESTROYING AMERICA.
Lady Gaga, YOU REPPED ♥! I am a 50 year old, Combat Veteran and this is one of the BEST RENDITIONS I have ever heard. From my red-blooded American serviceman's heart, I say THANK YOU! #tearsofjoy
I love her version, the words are clear, has spirit to it, not pitchy and not monotonous but colourful and also she made me feel strong. Thats how you sing an anthem.
I love the diversity in her voice and what she can express in a song. Here she sings to evoke remembrance and passion for what HAS been fought for, but at President Biden’s inauguration she sings more to show what we HAVE still to fight for. They are sung differently for different purposes, and I just love that.
She is a good singer but this pales in comparison to Whitney Houston singing the anthem. I think everyone who singe this after Whitney tries to do as good a job but it does not work.
Now THAT'S how you sing the fucken national anthem. Take note Christina: You don't have to googly noogly it all over the place to "make it your own" - you do it like this - in small parts - and you STICK TO THE MELODY without wandering off into Wanktown. And you do it with this powerful voice and this talent and this respect. And I love Lady Gaga and thank christ she did it so well.
I had never been a Lady Gaga fan before, associating her with the silly meat costume etc. For that matter, I'm not a Superbowl fan. But I happened to be at a burger place with the game on its screens and couldn't believe what I was hearing. No gimmick, this lady. A phenomenal voice and interpretation. Since then, of course, we've all had a chance to see how hugely talented she is in many ways, including as an actress. Never judge a book by its meat cover, I guess.
Right?! Gaga was good, but Whitney still holds the #1 spot for me. Nothing against Gaga, because she did a great job, but Whitney was just better for me.
@eatlocalhoney "The Star-Spangled Banner" is one of The most poetic songs ever written through the mist of a American-conquering War against British Troops. This version and Mormon Tabernacle Choir/Orchestra rendition is what we ALL need to hear at EVERY Superbowl Game. No Mess Ups, No Slacks, No BUTCHERING!
She sang this intelligently, like for example, the first phrase is an actual question. She sang it elegantly, and she sang it powerfully with soul. She made it her own. Well done!
Jc Sioson GAGA is a multi talented legend. She's capable to sing any Genre. She can Dance, Can Act well, (Well Best Actress in Golden Globes) She wrote her songs, Play lots of Instruments, She's a writer and director. (She Directed Marry The Night, Judas, Guy and she / Written Telephone MV), Producer. Etc. SOME OF THE ARTIST NOW CAN SING BUT CANNOT WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS, CAN WRITE A SONG BUT CANNOT SING PROPERLY. CAN PERFORM BUT CANNOT ACT. BUT GAGA IS THE COMPLETE ARTIST. WE BEEN KNEW.
Lady Gaga’s voice gives me goosebumps. Besides Whitney, I have never heard a more beautiful and stunning rendition of our National Anthem in my 64 years. Not an easy song to perform. She nailed it! 🥳🥳🥳🥳. But, I was just as moved by the emotions she showed, and respect.
@@introgauge Maybe you should go look at her live acoustic performances that are diamonds most have not seen... Just try this one Perfect Illusion Sukkiri... Her pipes are out of this world
Makes me tear up every time. She absolutely NAILED it. The Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl no less!! She has nerves of steel. She is always respectful, passionate and a STAR!
My family would dread having to hear someone overdo the national anthem, but Lady Gaga was the first and only performance that made my grandpa do a double take and not mute the TV. That's what I like this performance: she didn't go over the top or try too hard, she sang it reverently.

@@Cthulhoop No kidding huh? She's gorgeous. Looks like she's from the Hunter Games here lol, still hot! Even saw her in A Star Is Born & still, her au natural look, i'd still take her in a heartbeat! No doubt, the BEST anthem I've ever heard! Took me by total surprise not being familiar w/ any of her music prior.
She did a phenomenal job singing the anthem. She didn't try and upstage the anthem by adding in some whoa-whoah-ooh-scadilydat She was dressed nicely but more conservative and sang beautifully. This is the sign of a true artist; when the performance is not about her but about the anthem itself. Well done Lady Gaga!
@kahuna3901 honestly it’s awesome to listen to but really hard to perform unlike the British anthem which is simple and can be sung by anyone, which is a good thing to have in your anthem that ours really doesn’t that much. And I’m an American so yeah but both anthems are good.
@kahuna3901 Bruh, the tune/music came from YOU GUYS. It came from a song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London in 1773. So thank YOU............
I am foreigner from Sweden with a Lebanese descent that is now a a US citizen. And I have to say, what a great country we live in. God bless every inch of America. Amen 🙏🏼

Craig Anderson While we do love that version , also, and watch it often , this is my son’s favorite. At 18 years old, his favorite tv shows /movies are Thomas the Train and Elmo from Sesame Street, but he LOVES The Pledge of Allegiance and our National Anthem🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Can we all appreciate the lady doing sign language with so much passion just to convey the passion behind Gaga's singing? Now that's an MVP right there!
After hearing this, who could say she is not a great singer. She is a great, great singer. Hers is over weening talent. I get chills when I hear her sing.
Viper Phenom there are more singers out there who can blow low notes and belt high whistles and give riffs and runs, Ariana, Jhud, and so many, that Gaga cannot do. Admit that! Yet she performs with such ownership. Thats why i applaud her delivery here. Ok?!
GRAFX you say that you gave her props, but you had to point out that ‘there are many other better singers than her out there’ first...if you were sincere in your accolades, you wouldn’t have included that and turned it into a back handed compliment...
Well, I knew she was good, even great.....but this rendition is simply masterful....both musically, vocally and performance-wise. She pulls you in with every note, every word, every inflection of her seemingly limitless voice. I loved her Inauguration version...daring cross rhythms and deliberate variations of beats in the bar...accentuating the lyrics here and there. What a ride! But this version here is in a league of its own!
It's not just the vocals, it's the emotion thst reslly gets me. It's about so much more than just singing and Gaga put her heart and soul into it. After Whitney, she and Demi this year are my faves.
She KILLED IT! And she knew it!! She knew when those planes were gonna fly over and waited, then hit that last note right on time! GOOSEBUMPS MAN. Damn I’m British and I feel patriotic listening to this lmfao
Yeah. She can sing in the bombs he's about to drop on the middle east. Wahoooo!!!! Democrats rule! Trump didn't start any wars! What a square! Biden! Biden!
I'm Canadian and when I saw her sing this at the halftime show it inspired me to learn your national anthem. America has been a very turbulent place this last decade, but the beauty of this song inspires hope. I hope to see America make changes.
This performance, along with her "Sound of Music" performance at the oscars really showcased what an elite vocalist she is, and even though I'm mainly into rock and metal, I have to really respect the skill of Lady Gaga, and a couple of other high skill singers with mainstream success. That last note was incredible. Perfect control and resonance throughout the entire performance, and that final belt was insane. Any fellow singer out there who can't at least respect her level of ability is hopelessly delusional. She can sing pop, rock, metal, opera, and any genre she decides to challenge herself to. Serious respect.
I really didn't know who Lady Gaga was until she sand the Anthem on this stage. I was extremely proud of what she did here. It is my favorite rendition.
I love this rendition of the Anthem. I've watched it numerous times. Today, prior to watching this video again, I watched her perform Till it Happens to You. The version with the orchestra. That video and this one is enough for me to say she is a masterful artist.
Take away the crazy costumes, the dancers, and fancy stage lighting. And you've still got a professional musician with one hell of a voice! WOW! Way to go, Lady Gaga! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Gaga's performance although she can sing is over done whereas Whitney's is just a breath of pride and love for her country.... Whitney's doesn't seem like a performance which I think is y so many enjoyed it even after looking back through the years
Nah, Whitney looked like she was just kicking it with mates and still bossed it. Whitney just bounced out in a trackie and smiled her way through making history,
@@rudebwoy8 Whitney also recorded hers in the studio and lip synced her Live performance. Gaga did hers live. But yeah Whitneys is the best of all time.
Two highlights: 1. The way she says “see”, she really gets us to listen to the words and their meaning “oh say, can you see?” 2. Transitioning from her mix to that thunderous deep chest voice in proudLY WE HELD”. A wispy tender mix followed immediately by a perfectly resonant chest. Wow
She's a gifted artist. She should have won the Academy Award for her role with Bradley Cooper. However, winning for best original score wasn't bad either.
this shit was so good ill never forget it. my dad says "omg..i didnt know she could actually sing like that" to this day, die hard Gaga fan. can't love anything more than that.
It’s 2022 and this is still my favorite super bowl anthem performance! That look she gave the camera at the end is just pure gold! She’s thinking, “yeah, I nailed that.” Love her! ❤️🔥
Out of everyone that I have heard sing the National Anthem, Whitney is the best. Whitney sang that song so patiently and beautifully. All while smiling. There were no riffs, runs, whistle notes, screaming, or yelling to prove a point. Whitney's performance was effortless, and she came out not trying to impress anyone. Absolutely, flawless!😊😊😊😊😊
