@Julie Newman really? I mean, some people don't like cover versions of songs and that's fine -- different strokes -- but now she's *ruined it* for you? Like five years from now you won't be able to listen to Elton's original version because ZOMG you heard Lady Gaga sing it in 2020?
She can put on anything she likes and still be less of a clown in the end than most. Might be a bit out there, but if anyone questions Gaga's talent they'd be dead wrong.
This woman will go down in history as one of the best creators, writers, singers, pianists, performers, actors, etc. of the 21st century! I love everything she does and I'm an 58 year old grandma! LOL LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to you Stephanie and I pray that God will continue to bless you, your loved ones and your career! What a career/legacy you are going to leave! JUST WOW!!! XOXO
@@Dirtcowboy95 she's godmother of both! And Elton said in a interview that she is very present in their life, she spend a lot of time with Zachary and Elijah... by the way i confess that i wanna be gaga's goddaughter too hahahah
I love that Elton John himself absolutely adores Lady Gaga. He called her his 'daughter from another father' in a birthday post to her three months ago. I remember reading a few years back that she would bathe his boys while in full costume. She is clearly crazy for his sons. Wish my godmother was like that.
When Lady Gaga started her career I didn't like her. I thought "Another one who is building her success on strange outfits and nothing else". But then I realised that I was wrong. She is one of the most talented people out there. The power in her voice is amazing. Could not think of a better person to pay tribute to Elton John.
I was exactly the same way. For a long time I didn't like her at all ..... I thought she was all image and no talent. Then I saw the video on RU-vid at the televised Stevie Wonder tribute. She did the Stevie Wonder hit, "I Wish", and it was sheer perfection. I began to suspect then I had misjudged her. Then came A STAR IS BORN and the beautiful songs, "Always Remember Us This Way" and "Shallow". By then I knew I had been dead wrong about her.
IT'S so CRAZY HOW EVERYONE THAT HAS REALLY PAID ATTENTION TO LADY GAGA AND LOVE RVERYTHING ABOIT HER. I NEVER EVEN LIKED HER LOOK IN SHOWS AND CONCERTS OR WHAT HAVE YOU. THE MAKEUP AND THE WAY SHE DID HER EYEBROWS AND ALL. NEVER COULD SEE ANY BEAUTY IN HER . THEN I WATCHED A STAR IS BORN. I WATCHED IN DISBELIEF AS I FELL COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH THE MOVIE AS WELL AS LADY GAGA. WHO MAKES THE MOVIE JUMP 10 FOLD MORE UP ON THE CHARTS. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY 59 YEARS OF LIFE. SO WILL JUST SAY 54 YEARS OF LISTENING TO EVERY ROCK/ AND ROLL BAND AS WELL AS EVERY LADY BAND IN THE WORLD GOING TO CONCERTS FROM 13 UNTIL 20. EVERY BAND THAT EVER PLAYED THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM IN NASHVILLE, TN. SHE HAS EVERY BAND AND EVERY STAR THAT WAS EVER OUT THERE IN THIS WORLD BEAT..HANDS DOWN. I CRY MY EYES OUT EVERY TIME I WATCH A STAR IS BORN. AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE STAR OF THE SHOW, HER LOVER, IS AS GOOD A MUSICIAN/ SINGER AS HE IS A MOVIE STAR. THOSE TWO TOGETHER JUST MAKE YOU WANT THEM TO BE JUST THAT IN LIFE. REAL LIFE. LADY GAGA ALSO BLEW ME AWAY AT JUST HOW BEAUTIFUL SHE IS WITHOUT WEARING ANY KIND OF MAKEUP OR ANYTHING AT ALL. SHE IS GORGEOUS JUST LIKE SHE LOOKED IN THE MOVIE. THAT MOVIE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE EVER NOW. I'VE WATCHED IT 3 DOZENS TIMES SINCE THE FIRST TIME. SHE IS THE MOST TALENTED LADY I'VE EVER SEEN WITH THE MOST POWERFUL GREATEST VOICE I'VE EVER KNOWN. SHE IS SO SMART AND CAN LIGHT UP EVERY ROOM IN THIS WORLD WITH HER PRESENCE.
That song is 50 years old this year. I remember listening to it on a.m. radio as a kid. Still as touching then as it is now. You can see it on the young faces in the audience.
My admiration and respect grows for her every time I see her perform. She is and will be one of the enduring greats and have little doubt that they will be doing tributes to her body of work in the future.
Class, class, class. This woman is the best in my lifetime. She does everything great and a few things unbelievably good. She loves what she does. This makes the difference

@@soptunnan71 I think for me it's a case of watching her catalogue. She has a Midas touch. Not every single thing is brilliant but most is. Her talent and capability spreads so far. My ear and eye is different to yours. It's all about your view, not mine. I've never witnessed anyone quite like her in my 60+ years. For me she is the 'whole package'.
There are performers and then there’s LadyGaga. The older she gets, the easier it is to see. She’s such an amazing person. She and George Michael are the only two humans who can do proper justice to Elton John. Much love Mother Monster. ❤️
I used to see her as a lunatic. Now I see her as an immensely talented woman, and the future of music. This version makes Elton's look like a tribute - this is how it always should have been done. Hats off to Lady Gaga, one of the best artists I've ever listened to.
while I agree with your assessment of Gaga as an artist.., Elton's original version of this song is untouchable. She did well, but the beauty of that original is breathtaking.
@@blancaroca8786 If Janet actually records an original hit then your opinion is valid ... by the way, the number of views on RU-vid is meaningless - just ask Janet
Yes, her performance was amazing but Elton John is unique, it's his work, it came from HIS heart and his immense talent. I always prefer the originals. As good as any cover may be, no other singer captures my heart the way the original artists do. This is my POV
You do realise that Elton wrote this is in 1970?? I agree with your assessment of Gaga, but to say Elton's version of a song he wrote in 1970 is a "tribute" is moronic

@@dustanglx50 Well... the playing is REALLLLLY basic. I think she actually plays her part, but there is a keyboardist to the drummer's right which would explain why there is still piano at 4:21 Lady Gaga was a cabaret singer before... she can play piano right
@@PikaCook I don't doubt that she can play piano, but i do know a few camera tricks, and the fact that you cant see her hands after 0:10 is a deliberate technique to hide her "mock playing" a probably silent piano.
Dustin Boord The sound that you heard in 4:21 is harp, not piano. You can hear it in 1:15 too. Also she’s playing piano in a very simple style so she don’t have to look at piano.
@@dustanglx50 She may not quite be Elton on piano....but there are a ton of videos of her playing piano. But her claim to fame is singing... not concert pianist.
I was working on the building maintenance crew that night, so please take my word for it, the entire music cast really left a lasting essence in the restrooms. It was unforgettable.
I’ve loved her angelic voice since her first hit. Never doubted for a minute she was going places. Her voice is how l envision heaven to sound like! Best wishes Stephanie! ❤
I was 8 years old when Elton John first came to America in 1970 and I've been a diehard fan of his my entire life. That said - hands down, bar none, this was THE GREATEST cover of this classic & iconic song I've ever heard. Lady Gaga completely moved me to tears with this beautiful rendition.
I love just rewatching this. Your Song is my favorite Elton John song and one of my all-time favorite songs. Lady Gaga is my all-time favorite singer. I'm 14 and next year when I turn 16 Elton John is coming to the Dodger Stadium on my birthday and I'm hoping I can go.
Just watched the main performance, night and day with the rehearsal, just shows what an artist she is holding back and not stretching her voice during the rehearsal, when it comes to the main performance you get the passion and full vocal register.

This is thrilling. A couple of days after this perfomance she had to cancel the rest of her sold out tour. You can perceive her in pain, her body seems tough and blocked. But emotions found all the way out through her body and she fills the audience with her voice. This girl is amazing, lucky us to have her shining in our generation!
I suffer from fibromyalgia so I can understand much of her pain - I can't imagine doing something so physically demanding for work! I love her so much.
Oh how I love how she THROWS her voice in this Tribute 😍 loved her years ago for her beats but in recent years have come to recognize what an amazing vocalist she is. Definitely a fave 🥰
She is one the reasons I still sing today and this song is the purest way to say how much someone means to you. It’s the best of both worlds having an amazing artist sing the music of another amazing artist. It truly doesn’t get any better. Thank you for this. 😢😊. It reminds be of my Fiancé who isnt with me right now but hope and music keep my faith alive.
Not really an Elton or lady gaga fan, I am now, especially her, what a voice! I’m in tears and I’m constantly playing this on repeat. thank u miss gaga 🙏 ❤
Será que essa mulher existe mesmo? Ela é muito surreal! Fantástica! Maravilhosa! Ela deve ser o cúmulo dos esforços. Ela é demais! Puro show. Essa música é maravilhosa! Essa mulher é maravilhosa!
I'm in my 60's and thought Elton was as strange as Gaga when he first came out in my teens. Took a long time for me to see what beautiful music he has given to us , just like Gaga...I went and saw her at Phillips Arena in Atlanta. Had killer close seats. It was THE BEST show I have ever seen and I've seen a ton. We critiqued the entire show and there was not one misstep from her or her entourage, she NEVER missed one single note and the visuals were indescribable. I take her abilities pretty seriously. If I had to pick the top 3 of all time, the ones that have made music progress thru the years it would be.... 1. Amadeus Mozart 2. Frank Sinatra 3. Lady Gaga. (SG) (Not to take away from ALL the wonderful and talented performers we've experienced)
Ya pensaba que me estaba volviendo loca jajaja no era la presentación final!! Definitivamente en la presentación final lo da todo!!! La amo!!! Me siento tan orgullosa de ser su fan❤️
She is just amazing!!! She can do anything!!! What an amazing tribute to the great, incomparable Sir Elton John. I saw her do an amazing tribute to the great, late David Bowie at the Grammys just after he passed, they couldn't have chosen anyone better!! She was fabulous and you could tell that it was very emotional for her. She knocked it out of the park!!! She is like a female version of the great David Bowie. She, like him is always doing something different. You never knew what David Bowie was going to do next. You knew it would be amazing. Lady GAGA is the same way!!!
