"Hannie Caulder" - one of the best movie roles by the then (1960's) popular actress Raquel Welch. I had watched this movie more than once during our college days.
I met her in Vancouver BC, Canada 50 years ago. She's actually 5'6" tall, but the way she carries herself, with so much confidence, she looked 6' tall. I stood beside her, I'm 6'2" tall. She had the most gorgeous smile, my heart literally melted when she looked up at me, smiled and said "Hi"
Raquel also featured in two other really good westerns. Bandolero and 100 Rifles. Bandolero had a loaded cast of great actors. Dean Martin, Jimmy Stewart, George Kennedy, etc. She was the poster every teenage boy wanted hanging in his room. Absolutely one of the most gorgeous gals in Hollywood 👍
Strother Martin, Jack Elam were two really great character actors that got many rolls in westerns... usually as bad guys... from the Horse Soldiers with John Wayne, to the The Wild Bunch with William Holden... Strother was discpicabe
She walked the stairs like a model a catwalk not like a gunslinger. Also, she might not only be the most beautiful gunslinger ever, but also the cleanest I've ever seen.
1:05 The swinging arms were just laughable! It's hard to draw your gun on the right, when your right hand is swinging to the left! I've never seen anybody walk that way, gunslinger or not! 😆
Raquel welch....from her movies in so many chapters she always gets what ever she goes after..once around a time Henry Fonda Charles Bronson .. & Very attractive lady in western movies once around a time in the west
The first two bad guys she killed, Jack Elam with the woman and Strother Martin with the shotgun, were 2 of the most popular character actors in movie history. They were known for their ability to portray some of the meanest and sleaziest villains ever put on screen. The last guy did both TV and movies in the 60s and 70s usually playing a good guy. His name was Ernest Borgnine. The studio initially wanted Katherine Ross to have the starring role, but the director Burt Kennedy insisted on Raquel Welch. He was right. Thanks for posting this one.
This is a good movie... especially for the times. It took a long time for me to find a copy. I am still surprised it has never been remade. I read the book too. She didn't seem to wear anything under her poncho. I wondered if it was a comfort thing or the demands of the studio.? I know she liked Steven Boyd. I wonder if she got him to play the part ? The sound was bad but that happened in a number of movies from the time. . The copy I have seems to be missing some footage... But I don't know. A good writer could make it a better movie today. I would love to see a remake.
RAQUEL WELCH was absolutely stunning alluring mesmerizing and beautiful. I've always been incredibly jealous of her downright knock down drag out gorgeous baby girl!!! Perfect beauty every square inch from head to toe absolutely breathe taking young girl!!!!!!
@@kimnielsenthewordyvikingett159 Yes she is. You are as well Kim. I just looked at your profile and damn... you rocked the little black dress. You are epic.
Only Raquel Welch could play a character who rode and walked around in the dusty, dirty old west and still look like she just stepped out of the makeup room!!
Might could check out "The Quick and the Dead" (1995, directed by Sam Raimi) with Sharon Stone. You might like it; I did every one of the half-dozen times I've seen it. Or "Jane Got a Gun" (2015, Gavin O'Connor) with Natalie Portman -- haven't seen that one yet, so cannot vouch for it, but it died a quick and painful death at the box office.
Vengeance ....with a very very strong reason ..as chacter portrays in movie.. Has a will of iron....that's what I like about this movie....she goes after & gets it done no matter what.......
As for a lady gunslinger in the old west..l'd settle for being a gangster moll in the 30's..she was hot and sexy in all her movies from Fantastic Voyage to a cave woman..
Between this movie and Unforgiven by Eastwood, you can see how the western has evolved. In this movie Welch always gives her opponent a “fair” chance. In Unforgiven, Eastwood just shoots him armed or not.
This is called hannie caulder apparently....the actress is Raquel Welch....I'm not a fan of western films ..but seeing a clip of this strong performance...by the beautiful women ...I will buy the dvd...and look for any other films she's been in ... Melanie 32 ❤️🌈
Incredible film. Saw this when I was just a teenager. On the TV. Hannie's husband was murdered and she didn't even see that. Then she was brutally raped but instead of whimpering and feeling sorry for herself she made herself a warrior like no other.
@@lurking0death - It's a movie, fuckwit. A fantasy of how things should be, rather than what they actually are. It's why people watch 'em. Hell, if you wanna see "reality", just watch the local news. ( But not the national stuff. It's all lies and bullshit. ) P.S. I expect this comment will be deleted. Mostly because I'm telling the truth. ...and we can't have that, can we? LMAO
@@lurking0death Ye gods, you were capable of well thought out adult decisions when you were but a teenager, were you? I wonder how they all worked out, back then. Me? I'd have been too busy drooling over Raquel to care about stuff like politics. Politics was the dullest thing on the planet when I was in my teens. I wish it had stayed that way, to be honest, but sadly real life got in the way.
Raquel Welch , je ne me rappellais pas quelle était si belle ! vraiment sublime et en vieillissant elle est devenue encore plus désirable ., je pense a certains films avec Belmondo .
Message received: Back in the Old West people would devote their lives to dealing with a few minutes of intense stylized violence. After that they had nothing to do. The world was just empty space moving off towards the horizon. That is until the movies came along and a lucky few got to do it all over again (with improvements) for the silver screen.
