Liron Cohen and Mimi Torchin of Lady Parts Blog sit down with "Wentworth" star Libby Tanner for a fun chat about this and that. TRANSCRIPT AVAILABLE: ladypartstv.wo...
Libby Tanner actually wrote me back. I had never written a celebrity before , but I had heard rumors that some of the cast of Wentworth will write back. So, I decided to give it a try and wrote Libby Tanner and Pamela Rabe. Thing is, the post office in my town does NOT carry the necessary IRC ( international Reply Coupons ) that you're supposed to place inside the envelope if you want to get a response back, at least for Rabe, anyway. I wrote her and Libby, but I really was NOT expecting a response, especially since I could not get the necessary IRC coupons because the post office here doesn't carry them. I was so shocked and pleasantly surprised to get a autographed picture from Libby. Most celebrities do not read their fan mail. I'd bet anything, that most celebrities just have one of their staff throw all fan mail straight in the trash not even opened. Just guessing that is probably the case with a lot of celebrities. In most cases. In order to get a celebrities autographed picture? Most people have to pay several hundred dollars or more and stand in a very long line for a very short meet & greet as I understand it. An that is something I will never do, because I can't afford it. My point being that it is extremely rare for a celebrity to actually write a fan back. The fact that Libby Tanner did take the time to read my letter and write me back an autographed picture says a lot about her. Most celebrities will NEVER do that. Libby did and she is awesome as far as I'm concerned.
Thats awesome that she wrote you back! She seems like such a beautiful genuine person. I would love to write her, is the fan address on her website the correct address do you know? Being from the states I want to make sure I send her a letter where she will get it. Thanks!
I have to ask because I'm such a fan of Libby's. Maybe some of you can chime in here. How on earth did she and Nicole create that chemistry? Is this something I imagined only a "gifted" actresses can do? How can you create those unabashed, flirtatious love scenes, looks, gazes, caresses and NOT feel anything? Wow.
I think playing relationships like that on tv, part of them (the actors) *must* feel some form of lust towards each other, it'd be impossible not to, despite the fact that they're acting.
wow, amazing video, what a down to earth woman she is, fame doesn't seem to of got to her. love the sound of a aussie husky voice. well done ladies great interview.
Yes, this is always fantastic if some very known people act normal. I love it :) :) :) Just...what a pity for me, I cant understand nearly anything in Australian English...just very little.
I just found Libby when i started watching Wentworth on Netflix. Amazing actress, especially along side Franky the chemistry is amazing. I especially love how she can convey her thoughts and feelings just by her demeanor and the expression on her face. Beautiful, amazing voice, I could go on. I wa snot looking forward to having to wait since Im in the US for season 4. I was able to find a streaming site so happy I can stay current. Fantastic interview ladies!
Oh god, this was so good. I have been a massive fan of Libby's for 18 years - since I was 13 years old and Bron first came onto our screens. I think I've seen everything she has been on (yes, even those old episodes of Pacific Drive that they repeated on channel 10 in the 90s). She is an amazing, beautiful actress. I can't tell how how any times her characters have made me laugh and cry. Thank you so much for uploading this. Many blessings, Libby (yes, I have the same name as her.)
Oh I'm CRAZY about Cate Blanchett!!!! So excited to hear you talking about her! And really really hope to find more interviews of Libby!!!! I'm totally in love with her......
Thanks for the interview! Like a rare treat to see her interviewed :) And really interesting to hear her thoughts on Wentworth...and everything. Great job!
Great interview! Love Wentworth and Libby! Wish I lived in Australia so I could already be watching season 4 of Wentworth! Can't wait until it's released on Netflix.
I absolutely love the show, Wentworth. I've never been a "super fan" of a show like I am of this show & I LOVE television. This show has incredible acting, powerful stories, and love interests that are well done. I just finished Season 6, however, it was the only Season I couldn't get into. Seasons 3 & 4 were thee absolute best thanks to Franky & Bridgette. The lesbian community has extremely minimal relationships, next to none, to tune into and be affected by on a relatable level. The way Bridgette looks at Franky is like nothing I've ever seen before. It is so powerful! I would LOVE for the show to continue to show Franky & Bridgette's life together, but I'd love to see them simply happy now- no law related negative drama involved with Franky. Her positive outcome was refreshing. Best actresses on this show are definitely Nicole da Silva, Danielle Cormack, Libby Tanner & the actress that plays Ferguson. They deserve all of the acting awards out there. These actresses are amazing!! My absolute favorite storyline characters are Bridgette & Franky & Bea & Allie. These four are still the heart of the show and, it's not the same to watch the show without them at all. I've been hooked since Season 1 but was extremely emotionally hooked Seasons 3 -5. I'm hanging in there now though in hopes that Franky & Bridgette re-enter the picture.
Thanks Ladies for another awesome post. Great interview. I just last week caught up with Wentworth s3, and am now obsessed with Libby/Bridget. So finding this was perfect! She is adorable and a great actress. I'm nervous about s4, and anxious about the long wait we in US have to see it, but glad to hear she's eager for a season 5. Good sign for Bridget! I hope. Thanks again for this delightful interview. xo
I love Libby Tanner. I think she is awesome!!! I was disappointed the interview barely talked about Wentworth and no mention of working with Nicole da Silva at all.
I've now watched this interview 3x. A bit embarrassed to say I have just discovered Lady Parts. Um, your Vlog, I discovered lady parts YEARS ago. ;) I am now a subscriber and am back tracking, so thank you for your great vlog. I've just recently discovered Libby Tanner as well, and WOW, just wow. Liron and Mimi, anytime you want to hang out and chat - I'm down! Thank you ladies.
This is an AMAZING interview!!!! I've watched it many MANY times..... The chemistry between the 3 of you is great!!! Thank you so much for everything you do. Funny my friend plays basketball with Bart Freundlich so maybe we can get Julianne Moore to meet up with you and Libby Tanner next time she is in town! It's a small world..... Thanks Girls! You R O C K !
So glad you enjoyed the interview. We would never say no to a chat with Julianne Moore, though Mimi did interview her way back at the beginning of her career, when she was on As the World Turns. She was a doll then and we're sure she's a doll now.
MiMi- I read your Soap Opera Weekly columns every week since I was in Junior High. Pretty sure I still have some saved in my scrapbooks. Such a pleasure to see you doing these videos!! I am definitely a longtime fan of your opinions. -Gina
GinaFrat Hi Gina, I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed Soap Opera Weekly and my editorials. I wrote them for people like you. So glad you're enjoying our Vlogs! Thanks for everything.
I was so excited to see an interview with Libby Tanner, for I have shamelessly fallen in love with Libby! I love her character on Wentworth, her voice, the way she carries herself. I was so disappointed in the interview. Libby looked so uncomfortable trying to strain to see the camera and I couldn't hear what she was saying. I think the only way to rectify this is for LADY PARTS to fly to Australia and do another interview!!!
Hi Roberta, We are sorry for your disappointment. As we've said before, this interview was very much "on the fly." We hardly had time to prepare, let alone make the conditions ideal for our purposes. It is unfortunate, indeed, but we figured it was better than no interview! We hope you check out our other interviews (with Nicole da Silva, Kate Jenko, Leah Purcell, writer Michael Lucas and cinematographer Kathy Chambers from Wentworth, and also with others who are not WW-related) -- those interviews are in better sound and video quality. We're "learning on the job" and trying to improve a little bit every day. As for sending us to Australia - we'll be happy for you to sponsor our trip! :)
Thank You for the reply. I have watched all your Vlogs. Kate, Nicole, Leah, Crystal Chappell... all great interviews!! I wish I could hear LIbby better. Again, thanks for all the great interviews you do.
Totally jealous of your two!!!! ;-) Love the hat too... Love Libby Tanner as Bridget Westfall!!! ;-) A gorgeous woman!!! Love Wentworth... at least we'll have #Fridget!!!
too good to be true! you rock girls, i dunno how you managed to meet her! shes brilliant. i'd love to read subtitles as my english is not good enough ;(
+Remigijus Ramanauskas I so wish we could provide that. Please feel free to ask us and other fans questions about specific things you need help understanding. I'm sure we would all love to help. So sorry about that, again! Thanks for watching :)
Just a suggestion....but next time you interview someone important...it would probably make more sense to highlight them instead of yourselves. She should have been on the couch in the middle and you two should have been in chairs off to the side asking questions. We want to see who your interviewing more than we want to see the interviewers. She shouldn't have had to keep turning her head that way to direct her answers to you and to us. Do you know what I mean? She should have been facing the camera so we could see her face....not yours.
Oh believe me, we know that. We had zero time to prepare for this interview, which we did in an unfamiliar location at a moment's notice and with one foot out the door. I think you'll see from our interviews that followed that we tried to improve both the sound quality by adding a microphone and the seating arrangements. We're a work in progress, but constantly strive to get better.
I agree, poor Libby must have felt uncomfortable trying to crane her neck backwards to the interviewers, yet keep her body to the audience. Well done to her for being so gracious about it. Great interview, fun and light and bright
Just watching this again... Haha. Have you guys read the captions provided by RU-vid? Hilarious. At any rate, I appreciate the interview and do hope you two can interview her again -- via Skype, in person, whatever! We hardly get to see Libby off set and I'm sure you two could snag her for a few more minutes! Fingers crossed. Much love! Xx
G'day from down under, do you reckon you will do another interview with Libby again someday?! This was just so much fun to watch that another needs to happen :D
G'day to you, too, and thank you for watching. We're so glad you enjoyed our interview. There's no telling what the future might bring... In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our other interviews. We have quite a few with other Wentworth cast and crew members, as well as some other fabulous actresses and filmmakers. And we're always planning our next one!
Barb Cieri this was not a set; it was Libby’s hotel room, done on the fly, at most definitely subpar conditions. I think you’ll see from our other interviews that the sound quality is usually much better. We thought the viewers would prefer a not-so-great-quality interview to no interview. Thanks for your feedback.
Please go to ladypartstv.wordpress.com/2016/01/22/lady-parts-presents-a-conversation-with-libby-tanner/ to read the transcripts available in English, Dutch and Spanish.
Yes. We've started watching, but are having a hard time keeping up with it with all the new shows on television right now. We are very interested, though :)
I wish we could offer translation for every language out there. Unfortunately, that is not possible at this stage. But maybe you could use the English transcript (available on our website) and run it through Google Translate.
Hey there! Thanks for watching our Vlog and for spreading the Libby love :) We haven't heard of Janet King before, but we'll definitely look into it now. Thanks for the recommendation!
Then I hope you'll like it! Janet King is a spin off from Crownies (I liked that show too, but it's not as dark and complicated as I prefer my shows) :) The show got cancelled but the character Janet King was so popular she got her own show. It stands on its own though. And Marta Dusseldorp is perfect. Just perfect. The aussies make a lot of great television!
