@ladythesquirrel4638 That explains it. Just now popped up on my feed and thought it was new. I'm now feeding with winter squash, with acorn squash being the favorite.
@@ladythesquirrel4638 I started growing a bunch of peanuts in my back yard so the wild squirrels would have extra food, I've tried to give the wild ones a banana and apple but they dont eat it
@@rellik8746 FWIW, apparently raw peanuts are not good for squirrels (and maybe other animals as well). You can internet search for Danger of feeding raw peanuts to squirrels. If you're looking to broaden wild squirrels' diet, try grapes, either color satisfies our squirrels. They also like cherries, which are in season right now. (We remove the pits, apparently they are bad for squirrels, and presumably they're dumb enough to eat them.) Occasionally they will eat apples, but they can be picky about variety, I've had good luck with Pink Lady variety. But that's about all we've managed, avocado gets thumbed down despite others claiming luck. Pumpkins they mostly like, but hard to find right now.
