Los Angeles Fire Department Engine 64 handling an auto fire on the 800 blk. of W 120th St. The vehicle's fuel line ruptured leading to an extended firefight. October 29th, 2020- South Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA
Some of the teen age fire engineers seem a bit confused. The goal of firefighting (aside from the EMS aspect) is to reduce property damage. Nearly any car on fire is a total loss the moment it caches on fire. There is no benefit in "hurrying" to get water/foam onto a pile of burning trash that does not pose an exposure risk. Simpler, easier, safer to let the thing burn to carbon and reduce collateral damage.
Good video firefighter got of rig strapped tank on laid out line, called for water took that time to mask up, rock and roll period.............................................
That one didn’t want to give up without a fight! :-) It made sense as the video went on, as it looked like they were waiting for the fuel to burn off, rather than tow away a toxic drippy mess later.
So much for "professionals". Water on a class B fire, improper use of foam concentrate, only one guy in Full Gear. I've seen half-assed volunteer departments handle a car fire more quickly and efficiently than these guys can 😂
One of those difficult to extinguish vehicle fires, a good one to show a probationary firefighter that a vehicle fire can prove to be rather problematic and frustrating however stick with it and you will eventually extinguish the fire. Good work putting the blue stuff on the red stuff. Stay Strong Stay Safe
You're an expert in carcinogens? Can you name the carcinogens you're referring to? Can you name ANY carcinogens? Can you describe what a carcinogen is? How it's created?
Lazy Firemen. To lazy to set the foam inductor up right at the pump, or raise the hood or the trunk Its the Captains fault. That foam concentrate is NOT designed to be poured.
It would have been better to dump the foam in the tank water and you would have been done alot faster. Then when your done go to the hydrant and flush the pump and hose.
Nice to see the Captain walking around with his hands in his brush jacket pockets. Isn’t 64’s in BN 13, a Battalion that does things right? Engine placement was wrong, lack of hustle was embarrassing, the list goes on. This is a simple vehicle fire. Very weak! I bet 33’s would laugh at you’re inability to handle a vehicle fire in a timely/appropriate manner.
