I gotta say when I watched E33 roll up and get to work with the Engineer yelling 'water on' I had a flashback to the eighties of doing the same. compared to a lot of other fire services it is so refreshing to see LAFD crews hustle together to get water on the beast as a priority. well done to everyone involved.

Great video and tactics by this department. It should also show to the armchair FFs why you don't use 2 1/2 on small residential fires everytime. I’d disagree two firemen can operate a 2 1/2 on a fire in an offensive or defensive posture with the proper training. Anyone who says otherwise has never seriously tried. There are plenty of videos and resources out there showing how and it’s effectiveness. And these FFs did just fine.

In this case its defensive and a large fire. So using the deck guns and larger diameter hoses allow them to put huge volumes of water quickly on the fire. They aren't moving the hoses much so you can use that size. As well as their main concern now is exposure protection as the fire building is a total loss. So lots of water allows them to help keep the fire contained to that building.
