Carwow had this Car on his channel and the damn thing ran a 7:97 quarter mile I believe🤔I know it was under 8 seconds. What was scary is it was limited to 150mph which it topped out at a ways before the quarter mile ended so it would have ran faster😲
Remember the McMurtry generates 2tonnes of downforce at 0mph so practically speaking this is the Chaparral 2j but without the engine and a lot less weight
whilst a feat of engineering with undoubted performance the chaparral did kinda look like one of those cars you drew when you were 5, whereas the spierling looks like the body had a little more thought put into it 😊
I’ve seen that thing in person. I watched it go backwards up the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. Side note……… I have a 135 mph drag boat. My 70 Chevelle runs 8:80s@150 in 1320’ and my 98 Firebird is my landspeed car and I’ve had it up to 282.602 so far. Now I’m no expert on speed. But the McMurtry is the fastest car I’ve seen besides a Top Fueler. I was anti-electric till I saw this thing. Get used to these things and others like it. It’s the next generation of automobiles. I just hope I get to see a George Jetson mobile before I kick the bucket. 😂😂😂
@@lukefreeman828 Sorry, six seconds later. 🤦🙄 The Spéirling has a 60-kWh battery. The LaFerrari has an 86-litre fuel tank (and a small battery). That means the LaFerrari can drive many more laps around a proper track, negating any initial advantage of the Spéirling.
This fan car thing is the only path forward for motorsport this things in a league of its own. And most ev race cars are boring. But imagine seeing a pack of those coming around the track 5years from now they'll be doing 250mph down the straights actually sounds fast
yeah. with fans/skirts, the down force is crazy and doesn't generate as much drag as aero downforce. combined with active aero like the taycan turbo GT, the car could have skirts just millimeters off the road. expect even crazier and more efficient downforce and downforce/drag ratio in the futrure combined with huge active diffusers and ground effect the last blow will be when battery weight shrinks...
