LeQuan is really analytical and not judgemental in his approach to watching. That's very nice and refreshing. Also, his voice is so good! Definitely audiobook or voice actor material. We need more of him!
Some important info about this masterpiece you guys should know 1. The Art Director of this movie ‘Nitin Chandrakant Desai’ has passed away day before yesterday 2. A big shoutout to the Writer and the Director of this film ‘Mr. Ashutosh Gowarikar’ whose vision to write and make this film. When he completed the script of this movie, he showed it to all the major production houses of this country but no one wanted to produce it. It took him 3-4 years to convince Aamir Khan to act in this film. initially Aamir rejected this film but after listening to the script, he agreed to act in and produce this film 3. I would suggest you guys should watch the making of this film. Because this film has broken all the rules of traditional film making in India.
@@vertikasingh8765agreed. Without that, we can’t understand the love and care went into the project. Compare that with Adipurush, which didn’t even care about researching Hanuman Ji.
I am sure Lequan is a talented, well thought, and sharp individual which he has shown through his reaction and the word choice also so aware of the plot and scene in the film. Please give him some thought-provoking movies for the reaction. Love the reaction from you guys
This is not a movie. It's an emotion. The good against the evil. The underdogs against the powerful. The grit against the cowardly. This movie teaches us the value of perseverance , it teaches us the importance of fighting till the end against all odds. This movie teaches us how to live life. As it says " if you have truth and courage in your heart , in the end you'll be victorious"
I would highly recommend you watch the documentary called Madness in the Desert. It basically shows the making of Lagaan, talking about the various highs and lows experienced while creating the film. The things that had happened during that time and the way it has been told honestly makes it feel like a movie of its own. Trust me, you do not want to miss it.
Still remember watching it in theatre where it literally changed in to stadium. The makers were so smart that they didn't advertise anything about cricket, so for the 1st few shows it was a complete surprise to see a cricket match for 1:30 hours. Cheers in the climax in the theatre were just unbelievable.
Even after so many years and after watching it so many times and knowing very well how the movie is going to end, I still get tensed at 30 runs and 18balls.
The stricker switches places at the end of every over (6 balls =1 over). So if they had taken a one run on the 6th ball Amir would be on the opposite side of the stricker position at the end of the over, he would switch places with kachra in the next over and would get back to the strickers position. Which is why andrew kicks the ball to boundary and gives off a 4 to avoid the one run , he wanted to keep kachra on strikers position in the last over.
Another point where we see Lakha's true nature is when the other villages come to beat up bhuvan and everyone who was mad at bhuvan including Lakha protect bhuvan
Watched this in the theatres!! The audience was actually cheering on every wicket, four and six! Watching this movie was such a collective experience. It felt like a live cricket match due to the atmosphere!!! 😍
It is true very few-- if any -- composers can claim to be at Rahman's level, but among the current crop there is one who is consistently innovative and impressive: Amit Trivedi Then there are Rahman's contemporaries like Pritam, Shankar Ehsan Loy and Vishal Shekhar who have produced enviable body of work over the last 2+ decades
THIS IS WHY WE 90S KIDS ARE SPECIAL, WE DIDN'T JUST HAVE A SPLENDID CHILDHOOD, BUT ALSO A GREAT TEENAGE WHERE EXCEPTIONAL MOVIES LIKE LAGAAN SHARED OUR MEMORY SPACE. THIS MOVIE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE THAT SHOWS IF U R TRUE TO YOUR WRITING, THEN IT WILL ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE DESPITE THE RUNTIME. AND WHATNOT, THE VOICEOVER FROM BIGB IS ANOTHER PLUS.
Loved your reaction to 'Lagaan'. Aamir Khan is known to be the 'Tom Hanks' of Indian cinema because he plays roles that are endearing, inspiring and wholesome, and therefore is considered to be a National Treasure. Aamir is a brilliant actor, and you might want to watch some of his earlier performances. I would highly recommend 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', and 'Akele Hum Akele Tum', which is a remake of 'Kramer vs. Kramer'. You'll get to see his comedic timing, as well as his emotional range and versatility. I have huge respect for Aamir Khan and his body of work. Musically, you must listen to 'Amit Trivedi' - he is an accomplished composer and has created some fine gems. Some of his albums include 'Bombay Velvet', 'Aaiyya', 'Kai Po Che', 'Queen', and 'Manmarziyaan'. Keep those movie 'watch-alongs' coming!
Making of Lagaan is a worthy watch to react as a companion piece to the movie reaction. Typically Bollywood movies and to that matter most Indian movies do not produce a Behind the Scenes film, making Lagaan unique in that aspect as well.
I remember the day when this movie was broadcast on TV...in noon and at the time match start everybody is in house nobody is on road except passengers or visitors otherwise everybody stink on TV and watch the movie like real India vs England match was happning ,thats crazy ...
Aamir Khan is my favourite actor 👍 lagan movie dekhkar aisa lagta hai ki jaise hum sbhi Indian (ek parivar ki tarah) kaise un angrejo ka torcher sehte hoge... movie related our past... movie ko dekhte hue jyada hi dil pe le liya to imotional ho gya hu 😢 but finally We are win 😊🇮🇳🙏
I love this movie. It was the first sportsmovie I was totally riveted by. Rhada qese na jale (I can not spell it) is on my Playlist and I often watch that dance here on RU-vid ❤
So each team has 11 players, usually about 4 Batsmen, 3 All-Rounders and 4 Bowlers! However, it can vary... All-Rounders are players who can bat and bowl well, still having their particular strengths! An over consists of 6 deliveries or balls! The reason Laakha was out was because he got Hit-Wicket, which usually happens when the batsman's bat or he himself touches the wickets and the bails fall off! If the bails do not fall off the batsman is not out, even if the ball strikes the wicket! Bails are two small cylindrical cogs on top of the wicket! A batsman will continue batting until he is out! However, a bowler must only bowl 6 balls in a row! A batsman can collect runs in the form of a Single (running from one end to another), a Double (completing a round trip) and so on and so forth! He can also hit a 4 which is the ball crossing the boundary having bounced once or more and a 6 which is when the ball directly crosses the boundary, no bounces! A batsman's is declared out if the ball hits the wickets, if he hits the ball and a fielder catches it, if he attempts to run and the fielding team hits either sides of the wicket! One particular bowler however, is allowed to bowl upto 10 overs if it is a 50 over match or 4 overs if its a 20 Over match! Test Matches also exists which are played over 5 days! The reason Kachra was unable to spin the ball was because, in cricket for a spinner to use his capabilities to a maximum, the ball should be old, which is caused due to cracks in the ball (made out of leather) hence helping it spin to its maximum potential. Beginning overs of the match spinners aren't usually given to bowl, unless the pitch the match is played on is favourable to them! This is the most I could think of for now😅 But these basics should cover it!
There are many music composers whom I like AR Rahman, Mani Sharma, MM Keeravani, DSP, Anirudh, Jakes Bejoy, Yuvan Shankar, Ravi Basrur, Anup Rubens etc.. but the one who stands out for me in both songs and bgm wise is Harris Jayaraj just out of the world music and also credit goes to most of the singers and directors. Harris and AR are at almost equal terms for me.
When you take a single / three runs (by running) you keep the strike in the next over, but if you take 2, or hit a boundary or over boundary the non-striking batsman (here the last batsman Kachda) will be on strike next over.
Thanks for reacting to Lagaan. And since you are a big Amir Khan fan, I'd suggest that you see 3 Idiots. It is a classic of our generation (kids who grew up in the 90s and 2000s).
You should also react to the making of Lagaan. It’s a whole movie in itself. It’s called “Madness in the desert” and “Chalo Chale” is reunion of Lagaan.
Hindu culture promotes giving respect to people by their actions and not by their stature or perceived position in the society. There are many instances of such which are in our Epics, History and even the stories which are passed down generation to generation. One such example is the statue of "Sir Arthur Cotton" who built dams and canals on Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh. This improved irrigation to the crops, made that region the golden bowl of paddy in AP. Even to this day, he's kind of worshipped and celebrated every year. Even in our Puranas, the initial Avatars of Lord Vishnu are a Fish, a Tortoise and a Boar. This signifies that we worship any creature which comes to help us when we need it.
For the longest time, Aamir Khan reminded me of Tom Hanks, for some reason, especially after I watched 'Castaway'. Aamir typically works on only one project every 2-3 years. That could be one of the reasons why his projects almost always do so well. Apparently, when Ashutosh Gowarikar (the director and writer of Lagaan) met with him, he narrated the movie in its entirety, and that is what got Aamir saying yes to the project. @Andrew: I have too many favourite Aamir Khan films, but I'd just suggest watching 1. Sarfarosh 2. Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar, and 3. Dil Chahta Hai 4. Taare Zameen Par. I believe you have already watched 'PK' and 'Dangal'.
But who knows something like that might have happened And come on Britishers won't allow us to study that in school And we follow the education system given by them.
Tbh, although a good performance and film, his character in TZP did not have the range to showcase his skill as he had in this movie. My personal opinion. But nevertheless, yes they should check it.
LeQuans analytical skills are awesome when it comes to bollywood movies I would highly suggest you to react to Aamir Khan's best performance in movie Dhoom 3.
10:59 the batsman gets out if the ball hits the wicket. Whether the batsman misses the ball, swings or not swings or him getting hit doesn't matter like in baseball. The batsman will miss a scoring opportunity that's all.
so to explain why he's untouchable, his name translates to "trash", the caste system is a system of jobs and roles that one had in society, and describes the traits one has, not essentially what someone needs to be born into. For example, the untouchables were those who collected trash as a job, and back then, to prevent diseases and plague from spreading, there would be someone assigned to do this so that the rest of the village can be safe. Over time it became a power struggle when certain groups attained social mobility and accumulated wealth while others couldn't, but to clarify, it was a system of social order not for discrimination
Oh I think you missed the part about Brahmins using it to gain power and respect and it is a good thing you didn't mention Manusmriti being distorted by British to divide and conquer kingdoms. That was sarcastic by the way, even a brief skim through Hindu texts would make it clear that Avarnas were people who were punished for crimes by being banished from social hierarchy. Around the time when Ved and Puran were respected.
*It was a segregation system used for social control and to ensure that the Brahmins kept their power (also why the Dalits were not even allowed to hear the scriptures even by mistake) and yes discrimination was central to this.
@@dia606 I guess that's why Dalits do know stories from Purans, Ramayan Mahabharat and even sometimes have their own spin on them, because they weren't allowed to hear them. Please go out and talk to these people instead of using Internet for anecdotes.
@@kvm6 i wrote “scriptures” not mythologies or folk tales. The Manusmriti literally forbade lower castes from hearing the vedas - if this sounds like internet anecdotes then maybe do some research
@@dia606 The Geeta and most scriptures have a fluid Varna system. Brahmin born could work as Shudra (and vice versa) lol Vidura was a Shudra and quite respected by most in Mahabharat. Manusmrti got written waaay after Vedas and Upanishads. And way, way after the dawn of Hinduism (which had no written scriptures). Now, I can't do anything if you reject history by saying it's mythology.
guys plz tell them both that rhe batter dont change on no ball, but why it changed in the movie is because on the last ball they ran for a single run and because it was a no ball now the new person on strike who switched position while running will be facing the bowler not the one before as the also took a run on the same no ball, so it was like 1 run of running and 1 run of no ball and bow on the last ball they only need 4 runs to win not six. happy to help
Watch "Chale Chalo - Making of Lagaan". You would agree that you may have never seen a documentary which is better than this before". It goes on to show how they made the movie and the trials and tribulations they went through to make this Oscar Nominated movie. Unfortunately it lost out on the Oscars to Danis Tanovic "NO MAN'S LAND" (2001).
Andrew, some of AR Rehman's best music is in a gorgeous movie called 'Jodha Akbar'. Please react to it! You with your signature expressiveness and emotional intelligence.
Andrew, I'm totally with you- include me in your ride. I'd follow Aamir Khan to the ends of the earth too. Mr. "Perfectionist", as he is regarded in the Bollywood industry, will show us the way! 😉 ❤
