I truly hope the Don Julio casks used were prior to when they add those mighty fine (🤢) tequila additives.

Keith, bringing out the claws with that 86! I like it. My favorite is the 2018 release, which yea even more than 17 and 21. They're all unique. I'd like to grab this for 150 if i can. Probably a bit overpriced but it's fun to compare. "Why mess with a good thing". I agree, each year is different enough, so im kinda unhappy about the tequila casks. I wasn't bored yet with bourbon casks and comparing how they come out...was anyone? Who asked for that? Also what's with the art...the bottles were timeless and classic...then they went to art. Okay well there was atleast a theme of animals. I do love animals, watching all the documentaries, going to zoos, and now a lady with a tattoo? What? No one cares but me probably 😅

Would’ve been much more interesting to see Laga 12 finished in a tequila cask from a smaller producer - who tend to use older, neutral casks. Don Julio being a Diageo company are inevitably sucked into the corporate cask merry-go-round, so the reason this wasn’t overly different from standard Laga 12 is probably because the tequila cask itself was also an ex-bourbon that was used once or twice by Don Julio before being sent on its way to Scotland. So it’s basically a normal Lagavulin cask that’s had a quick layover in Mexico (“Añejo” tequila is aged between 1 and 3 years). Still, there are worse Diageo brands that could be used for cask finishing scotch (Casamigos, Don Papa rum).

Were these special release 200ml bottles a set, or did you get them individually? Either way, I'm glad they were available to you as the prices are too high on all of them. Happy to see you did several reviews while Keith was there. Cheers guys

Oh wow I would never imagine it would be available in Ohio, I just saw there's an entry for it in OHLQ after watching the video, no stock yet though.

I’ve given up on Lagavulin goods. Uninspired, no variety, low ages, colored, filtered, low ABV and the prices these days are insane. Just simply not worth it anymore. Diageo is the worst thing to ever happen to scotch whisky.

The Oban 11 year 2023 special release just got to my Total Wine for $134 so this Lagavulin 12 year 2023 release can easily be $175 or above imo. I'm leary of the Tequila casks being used but it is Don Julio. For me I'm just going to wait until it goes on sale. These special releases just aren't worth it to me now.

I paid 160 plus tax for this bottle…not worth it ! Laga 12 2021 edition is the last of the Mohicans ..save your money and stay away from the 22/23 editions…
