The LaGG was the design that got improved engines, redesign and more weapons to become the LA-5, LA-7, etc. So you noticing similarities is quite correct. In WT for me it was the Yak 1b onwards that was the start of the sexier planes the Soviets had.

LaGG-3 is like a grandfather to La-7, LaGG-3 was modified with a new armament and engine because it was not a very good plane, that is how La-5 came to be, it saw futhere modifications into La-5F and FN which later turned into La-7 and La-7B

Even Yak-1 is very effective plane.. and has nice bombs. Time to time I happily use it even in BRV battles and in lone fighter mixed battles. But no, LA-7 is significantly better universal plane. It climbs like crazy and turns well. Also it can reach about 750kph in dive and still not disintegrate. So you can easily go into 2500+m and then do deadly dives and run away before any enemy plane around can react. Or when up, you can dive on enemy planes and nobody will run away from you. Also bombers are easy prey.. just dive on them, aim on cockpit and usually few 20mm rounds kill it. Also La-7 usually can survive some hits from gunners.

the LaGG-3-11 ain’t that bad, I mean I never heard about it until your last video but it really surprised me under your amazing flying skills! I think you deserve the Order of Victory medal for your services to the Soviet Union with 10 aerial victories over Berlin.

does enlisted plan to add bombs on soviet fighter planes?? because Mig-3 is so underrated

still waiting for IAR at BR V ;) but not in a game like this, where the enemy is putting up NO resistance at all, and only spawns BR I planes (with one exception tbf)
