Thank you for this video. This helped me do the same thing to my AR-300. I was wondering if you have any video as of it actually filtering the water? Did this end out turning out the way you wanted it to work. I can’t wait to get my first roller mat working. Saying goodbye to filter socks.

Nice mod. I am going to probably do that with a Trigger 39 sump I have that has been sitting for a while now. I plan on cutting the sock holder out even though its brand new once I do my bigger tank. I do currently have a Sk-5000 on my current system and you will find out the frustration I have with having the part that is screwed on the back of the sk-5000 lines up with the line that you now can't see for the used roll.
@ReefDudes
@ReefDudes 4 года назад
Thanks! as for changing the roll i see your point! Can you just slide the roll off leaving it attached? May solve that issue .. or maybe ill glue a tiny mirror to the back of the stand for alignment :P
@freedomaquatics6328
@freedomaquatics6328 4 года назад
@@ReefDudes The mirror idea for sure has me intrigued. Never thought about that. The other issue I have is I can never just slide off the roll for whatever reason makes me a little angry but I have had to unwind it off the roll every single time. I can't seem to figure out my issue so as of right now that will not work. If you have any tips as to why the paper will not slide off let me know very frustrating.

Hey Deven, been watching your videos for a little while now and love them. Very informative. This office tank build looks awesome and cant wait to see it loaded with livestock. Do you have any concerns with the waste side of the rollermat rubbing on the side of the stand? Maybe it is just the filming angle, but the video makes it look like it may be a bit too close when it gets close to time to change to.a clean roll. I dont imagine the motor on that is strong enough to overcome that type of friction and may stop it from operating correctly?

@ReefDudes
@ReefDudes 4 года назад
Look at the "triton method" sumps as the tend to have big open spaces in the first chamber. RS doesn't list the external sump dimensions so you will have to measure but for a few ideas www.saltwateraquarium.com/filtration/refugium-sumps/sumps/?aff=8

@@ReefDudes I just realized that only part (seemingly half) of the flow from the tank is going thru the filter roller. And it seems like your second drain pipe is fed directly into drain chamber, thus feeding into the refugium (unfiltered). I noticed this as I was setting up my tank, which has a Herbie overflow and only one drain. I planned to bypass the drain chamber and go thru the wall, as you did, but then I realized that there would be no water in the drain chamber, and no water going to the refugium. Your thoughts?

@@ReefDudes Ha - I just read your reply. Been working on this all day and I came up with the same idea. :-D Gonna use 1.25 threaded bulkheads to connect the overflow chamber to the filter roller.
