Let me show the flood that befell Lagos, Lagos after the heavy rain fall. The flood is as a result of the torrential rain all over Lagos. #lagos #lekki #flood
Water will always always find it's level. Do not remove the ancient land marks, let rivers be rivers, and let land be land as it was made, but man says he knows better. Continue...
Lekki, Lekki, Lekki! If this is Lekki, then it is nothing but a Glorified Fishing Creeks. The beauty of every environment is it's all season roads. What is the guarantee that Lekki will not one day be submerged in water?
Its not only to lay crude oil pipes to from portharcourt to kaduna and lagos. Nigeria should lay pipes to move water from Lagos to Enugu. Enugu needs this water.
The drainage , even the once available are so shallow to contain such flooding. Its time the government start making space for drainage, larger drainage.
The Lekki hype is worth it abeg. Is the Dubai hype not worth it? after the heavy rains that flooded and destroyed lots of things 2 months ago? Or you won't jump at a Dubai visa?😅 Dey play
Nice video, please show more of the lekki area like lekki phase one. I want to know if all lekki areas are always flooded. Thank you for your good job and God bless
It's so unfortunate. This could happen partly because of a poor drainage system and laxity on the part of the area management.l am also certain that some people like most places in Nigeria,do throw in debris in the drainage thereby blocking the passage when it rains. We have long months of rainfalls every year and precautionary measures should have been put in place.I also hear these are rich neighbourhoods.Ain't fair to invest so much money to then find oneself in such a mess.
With proper management nothing like this will ever happen. For how many years now we ate still complaining. It should never be happening to "new Lagos" #corruption
Great drainage system is in place in Lagos, but due to the high level tides and rivers overflowing, there’s a pushback of water from these rivers. There’s little to be done really. 80% of houses are built on waterlogged lands. Lagos is water. Gotta start allowing these waters to start going through the oceans and nearby states.
Yeah!!!! But people are not cognizant of the fact that once the rain stops, the flood will find its way out. However, when the roads are flooded, people are ready to make inflammatory comments like "The Lagos that Tinubu built"😆😆😆, unaware that the floods will subside as the rain stops.
@AfamOrji Lekki is flooded so your title say only those streets out of the whole lekki. Why are you a lagos hater some of your post about lagos are always to down talk lagos why
Lekki, Lekki, Lekki, everybody you ask I live in Lekki, so this is the so-called Lekki, ... the sea will certainly reclaim its territory and if you look at the video you will find out there is no side gutters, so why wouldn't there be flood..
Lekki is the Yoruba word for Lake…. Go figure. Lagos houses 12% of Nigeria’s population but the other states aren’t doing anything! Nigeria needs more “Lagos-type” cities. If the US only had NY it will be in a bad state. You can’t have about 10,000 people move into Lagos daily and expect the infrastructure to sustain it especially with the type of governance at the center. Most Nigerian youths dream of living in Lagos and never hold their state governors accountable.
Meh..... I saw your provocative comments that lagos would soon sink on another video. I replied to your comments from a particular RU-vid channel but my comment was hidden. 😂😂😂 Don't be gullibly indoctrinated by what you hear in the media, cuz it was prognosticated that Manhattan NYC would sink, but it hasn't happened. How wondered if it was your blasted wish that Lagos would sink soon. Refrain from your malevolent mind about Lagos cuz this is a global concern.
@@okesegun2118you are now comparing Lekki with Manhattan, total delusion to say the least, Nigeria can even be compared to North or Southern African countries. Your criminal politicians are their stealing your infrastructure resources and your are comparing a country that can’t even feed its own citizens with USA. I am not saying you are wrong but that comparison is daft if you have ever been to Manhattan.
Please, I am just asking: Is Lagos on the globe? If Lagos is on the globe and the globe is sinking, then it is true, Lagos is sinking. Or you don't want any commentary about Lagos.
@@ivybannerman-wood453 I want to believe this comments is for me even though you didn't tag me. Clearly you didn't comprehend my comment. Lagos is undoubtedly below sea level but prognosticating that it would happened sooner is incredibly hypocritical. This isn't the first time it has been said that lagos would sink. 23 years ago, many predicted that lagos would sink and would be no more, but that didn't happen. The guy was just being bent on negativity about lagos, wishing that the city would sink sooner. Apparently, he is from the South East.
@@okesegun2118I attach no tribalism to the content, one I am not Nigeria, two if the blogger is from SE, what will he achieve by spreading doom? And if flooding is a global phenomenon, it is not only Lagos that will sink. There is a need to address this global issue, but it must start local level and it is good to raise local awareness. That's my view, I don't believe it's tribalism, but I respect your view, since you have more local knowledge than I do.
People have built houses on drainage channels, many do not give room for Government / canal setbacks. Lots of Govt drainage / canal infrastructures have been vandalized by vandals, environmental infractions i.e. improper disposal of waste such as dumping of refuse or waste in gutters or drainages during rainfall, waste generated and dumped on the road & gutters as a result of street tradings etc results into flooding of this nature. Lagos no doubt is a coastal city with aquatic splendour but our estate developers needs to do the needful. They should at all times obey the environmental rules and laws while building their estates. They should obtain building permits before embarking on building and obey the terms given to them on such permits. They should also do background check on lands they intend to build on and obtain drainage permit. There is also need to conduct Environmental impact assessment & soil tests on the lands they intend to build in. Above all, Govt should intensify efforts on enlightenment and advocacy. People need to be educated on all forms of environmental infractions. While Government itself should desist from and discourage Land reclamation. Water bodies should remain as water bodies and Land as Land.
Afam, I cant see anything that suggests "rich" about all these places you have been showing. These whole area are more like an Ajegunle in the Islands.
Most of the floods are as the result of inadequate drainage systems. Some parts of Lagos mainland is the best to have a house without the issue of floods during the raining season.
It is not mainly inadequate drainage system but the fact the citizens, estate developers and Govt didn't do the right thing uniformly when constructing buildings in a part of the city, the Island that's below sea level. Many don't even build gutters at all, they don't sandfill the land to the required level before foundation is laid etc What else do you now expect when it rains heavily? Nigerians just need to get more serious with the environment cos we abuse it too much
A rich man living in a poor infrastructure country is still a poor man, including African richest man, this shows that building sustainable cities go beyond aesthetic of paved roads and over inflated houses. The flooded water is clear and might have come from the ocean, this is the so called Lekki hence I am looking at Namibia and Botswana with well plan western infrastructures.
Regardless people have freedom from financial extortion and social restrictions in those so called poor countries. There's really happiness that comes with nature and simple things of life in those so called poor countries. Pursuit of materialism cut people's lives short.
Na mumu dey think say Lekki na better place. Lekki is a dirty as Sango or Agege. Either you leave in Ikoyi, VI, Lekki, Ajah, Ikorodo, Festac, Ikeja. Lagos is still as dirty as fuck. No where in Lagos is clean and neat like the dirtiest in Switzerland.
Omo osagie, that your state is cleaner than all the areas you mentioned in lagos,if you be real son of your father upload pictures of the cleanest, richest areas in your state. I will wait
Thank you for this video. I wish you can also show those big estates like Pinnock Beach Estate, Cowrie Creek Estate, Royal Garden Estate and even Chevron Drive. We need to know the truth. Many thanks. Good job.
They should accept their fate o because they said they prefer an international airport to basic infrastructure,, no proper drainage system, just building match boxes all over the place, even where there are drainages they are often obstructed by money miss road landlords or blocked by dirty pigs throwing thrash all over the place 😢😢😢😢 I feel like walking in that water😂😂😂😂
In Matthew 7, Jesus said everyone who hears his words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Then he went on to say everyone who hears his words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand (Matthew 7:24-26)
This is because there is a none existent and inefficient drainage facility. Water should be able to flow through the city and draining underground. You can collect and have more water to use. Abuja has a good underground drainage system so thinks like this are rare?
This one is dirty; That one is dirty; Tell me the state you live and let's compare. Can't you even afford the most average estate in lagos? You are just being bent on negativity without any evidence to support your assertion.
