This song got stuck in my head after seeing A Simple Favor. I looked it up and I keep replaying it. Now if someone asks if I know any french I can say 'a little bit' :D
Got here because of "A Simple Favor". During the credits, I ended up taking my cell out to use Shazam on it. Twice used, NO RESULTS!!! So... reading the credits I found out it was No Small Children and ended up going to Apple Music and downloading everything they have. COOL GROUP!! And then, of course, ended up here, and am looking for all versions of this song on RU-vid ;)
I've literally listened to this song after watching A Simple favor. Going to school, coming home from school, riding a cab... I just love it even though I don't know what it means... haha the fact that it's covered by women who teach elementary school teachers by day and rockstars by night is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
What a great number ! And I loved when the performer’s wig “ever so slightly slips” as she is playing her saxophone !! (At the halfway mark of the video ) Fantastic cover from the 1964 version !!!
Yip this grabbed me straight away when I heard it on the closing credits of A Simple Favor. Great band , English songs as well , I don't know anything but I do know that French those words that tune . Works
Came across this when looking for covers of the original France Gall version. This must be my favourite: great sound, style and 60s(?) look. I love the sense of fun and humour that you obviously had in making the video. Have now listened to much more of your music and can honestly say that NSC has gained an extra fan in the UK. Fantastic, all of you!
Your one-of-a-kind performance and your inspiring video design are great works of art! Soooooo awesome!! Thank you! I loved it! There have been countless covers of France Gall's performance of Serge Gainsbourg's classic! Every cover I've experienced has been so enthusiastic, but NSC, perhaps ironically being teachers, really hit a home run! Your hard work makes a big difference. Thank you for sharing your energy.
made even more spectacular by the generous eye-brows in this video- none of my friends would believe I like this- a few good versions of this on youtube
Awesome cover, but a different mix than the movie; surprised to see no comments on that. Just saw this on Prime and the guitar fill impressed me and brought me here, but this version has horn fill. I'd love to find the actual movie track. Old enough to remember the original, even being a NY boy. I had cousins who lived in France.
Exactly what I was wondering! The movie version is a bit longer & different. Regardless, I love both the versions. Will still look for the movie version of the song but I don't even know if it's out there in studio quality. Anyway... if you've found it, be a lamb & please share it with me :)
I absolutely love this song and I listen to it while I'm driving in LA traffic! U chicks rock it! OMG More songs like the 80s, please!! XOXO to all three of you cool cats!
Laisse tomber les filles" (English: "Drop it with the girls" i.e., "Stop messing around with the girls") is a French song written by Serge Gainsbourg and originally performed by France Gall in 1964. Quentin Tarantino used another version of called Chick Habit by April March in his movie Death Proof.
I'll never understand how performers can keep up that kind of energy. It must have been HOURS shooting this, and they all seem like they just walked onto the stage. Amazing.
A cool song written by Serge Ginsburg in 1964. If it weren’t for a simple film "A Simple Favor", I would never have heard this wonderful song in my life.
