Just 70 kms from the East Kimberley town of Kununurra in Western Australia is the mighty Argyle Dam, which created the huge body of water known as Lake Argyle, Lake Kununurra and the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, which had turned the Ord Valley into a flourishing farming region.
This massive project is ecologically sustainable, and has also created a unique wetlands with an astounding range of permanent flora and fauna.
This little-known region of Western Australia shows how a rich, yet sustainable, ecological area can be created using human initiative.
