Scientists have been discovering small changes on Lake Michigan that could lead to big impacts on fishing, tourism and those who make their livelihood on the water. (May 20, 2024)
If you want to improve water quality and prevent algal blooms, ban lawn chemicals and watering and mandate large buffer zones around fields that have fertilizer applied.
Right on. Lakes throughout MI lakes are ringed with chemically boosted lawns, lawns that could and should be serving to filter water rather than being a source of contamination.
Because you are vain and have enough money to always get your way. But then you throw a tantrum when the lake rises and claims your preciously obnoxious beach house.
Who knew building too close to a body of water would be a bad idea? Funny because just a few years ago they were complaining about too low of water levels. But, if you pay the Government enough money, they'll fix it for us.
I've seen algae blooms near Alpena early this year. It's covering many rocks on the beaches there because new homes being built on the lake are draining wetlands and letting fertilizer run off. Rocks along the shoreline were beautiful colors 10 years ago, but now are covered in algae. The beauty of these beaches have declined significantly.
Compared to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and the Gulf Coast states we don't get NOTHING here to those states. You only have to at RU-vid videos of tornadoes that happened in those states. When I was in the USAF and stationed at Sheppard AFB; Wichita Falls, Texas about a month before discharge, a F-4 tornado came through the city. Forty four people died and 1,200 injured. Terrible Tuesday was the nickname for this day. Again RU-vid has videos like took place that day.
@@tomcat3949 no.. have you ever been to Oak Street beach? I lived there most of my life. There are some great things about Chicago. Just dont go south or west and you're safe. You got no business being in those places anyway. And they are hard to get to so ....
I used to fish the bayous and channels around the Grand River in Grand Haven, Fruitport, and Spring Lake. This was back in 1990's. I used to be able to see clearly into the waters and watch the fish I was about to catch. the water was so clean and clear. Now it's just muck and mud. You can't see anything at all. I used to net bait fish right off the rocks at the Grand Haven State Park Pier. Tons of small fry and bait fish swimming all around I could just dip a net in and scoop them out right into a bucket. Now, nothing lives there. Just murky dead water. There are still some great spots hidden around but they are being fished out and are few and far between now. It feels like the golden years of fishing on these bodies of water are gone forever. Next thing to come will be the Asian carp.
Ahh, first mention of audio! LOL. Ya, I think sound track was mixed by an old sound engineer that did the early Beetles albums! I heard, for the most part, dialog on one channel, and sound effects on the other. So, if your playback device was killing one channel, you missed out on speech or the waves crashing on the shore.
Could it be all the factories releasing poisonous water? Could it be all the fake beaches that destroyed the shoreline habitat? Could it be releasing non-native aquatic plant and animal species? Or just cow farts and tailpipes ? 😂😂😂
The Army Corp of Engineers was diverting water from Lake Michigan elsewhere for years because of algae overpopulation in other lakes. Then they stopped (2020?), and Lake Michigan's water level rose dramatically. The water level has effects on the atmosphere here too. Why don't they admit to their interference in the environment.
Never heard of whales in lake Michigan. This must be embarrassing for God. He made those people in his image. Time for a little diet and exercise, Big G?
Technically 1.1 degree. Fahrenheit. That’s 0.61 degrees Centigrade. Assuming current trends hold over the next 100 years, and they use the same thermometer. Apparently, we should be very, very scared, or something. 🙄
Wait, they are pumping it dry while the lake is experiencing record high levels, oh wait they are pumping ground water which is… NOT LAKE WATER. Comments like this take away from what nestle is actually affecting.
Captains on ocean hauling cargoes ships, Crossing the Atlantic ocean in the Indian ocean ! I heard them say they wouldn't be caught dead on any of the great lakes !!! Too Unpredictable !!!
Indigenous people knew how to live with their environment! Unfortunately the people who came and stole the land set up systems around greed and money! The land is giving you back what you have given it!
