Welcome everyone and thank you for taking the time to watch the video! This video was filmed in Pennsylvania waters of Lake Erie with the owner of French Creek Fishing Company. We used a few tactics to catch these perch and crappie.
- The first method in the beginning of the video was a single float and jig method. I had a “Rocket Bobber” brand float and a 1/32oz jig head with French Creek Fishing Company plastics.
- The second method used was a simple drop shot rig. For this I use from a 1/8oz - 3/8oz drop shot weight with a “VMC Spin Shot” hook roughly 12-18” about my weight. Both method work very well for me and I use them on a variety of species.
- If anyone is interested in the baits I was using check out frenchcreekfishingcompany.com/ and use promo code “FINatic 20” at checkout to receive 20% off of your order. He also has a Facebook page where you can message him directly with any questions or inquiries for custom colors in his baits.

Damn I sat at the south pier this weekend watching guys on boats slaughter them in front of erie sand right by the wall. I might have a quart bag so far lol 😢

@@MattgIH Well majority of what I’m seeing posted are spawned out and that happened in the last week. They made it from first parking lot to the channel pretty quick. Marching themselves right back out to the lake! I’ve got some if you would like lol.

@tightlinefinatic3980 lol no that's ok man thank you though. Yeah they moved pretty quick I think if we had a normal winter it'd be different. I might hit up bulls dam this weekend for crappie.

Gotta think though, it’s already April. These perch are right on par with their spawning pattern. Really would love to be out there catting them in the new Clam ice hut though haha. Spring crappie is right around the corner!

Awesome good luck! The perch are right near the south pier. They’re working their way back into the lake.

Fry tip from down South. Blue Bag Louisiana Fish Fry, instead of egg to make it stick, use regular French's yellow mustard as the dredge. Just squirt some in a bowl and lightly coat the fillet. You'd think it would make the fish taste like mustard, it does not, makes the breading stick and hold together very well. Also, do not let the breading get soggy, coat with fry and immediately drop into the oil. Fry oil at 325-340 degrees. Works on Crappie and Walleye. Thanks for the video

Awesome definitely going to give that a try! Planning on cooking up some perch and crappie sometime soon! Our waters temps are getting pretty close to excellent temps for shallow crappie so maybe I’ll try a catch and cook video with this! Thanks 👌🏻

Nice to see perch being caught. Used to be able to catch them damn near anywhere. Now it seems the central basin is empty. That crappie would have made it into my live well also good catch
@tightlinefinatic3980
@tightlinefinatic3980 2 месяца назад
I do agree that the central basin perch don’t seem to be here as well, but I also have my own personal reasons that kinda makes sense. 1. These perch are definitely not in as big of schools as they use to be and I’m thinking that may have something to do with the insane walleye population we have right now. Estimated 100 million walleye in Lake Erie??? That crazy! 2. Our winters have been super mild which in turn is causing the lake to not freeze over. The perch spawn in shallow water and if the lake isn’t froze over those shallows are constant getting beat with waves and heavy current. In my opinion that leads to less eggs hatching because they’re getting destroyed.

@@tightlinefinatic3980 agree. 2021 and 2022 especially you could toss a bottle cap in erie and limit out on walleye all massive fish. Shit my FIL has a boat, no electronics, picks a random spot off of 72nd boat launch and we hit a limit drifting in Erie Dearies with minnows. It’s insane

@@Dr.Ballsonya Yeah there’s so many walleye it’s nuts! I wanna jig for them this year for sure!
