The reason we picked the Mac26s is because of its trailerability. This is our first time trailering it to another lake (Lake Hartwell) and spending a birthday week on the boat from a lake house!
HI I have had a Mac 26S for twenty five years. Bought it new in Vancouver Canada. It has sailed on a dozen lakes and I have had thousands of fantastic hours on it. Love it.
Hi Ariel, thanks for watching! Our Mac 26S is a 1991, and to us she sails perfectly. We've had her out under sail in 20mph winds (two reef points in). We motored in winds up to 30 mph but found she starting becoming a little hard to control from the windage and we took her back in. We never felt out of control, but we've only had this boat since June 2019, and we've only been sailing since July 2018, so we're still building our experience in the higher wind levels. She moves well in light wind (being such a light boat with water ballast). Her PHRF rating should be somewhere around 219 to 230, based on what I'm seeing online. We've only raced the 26S once, we do more racing in the Flying Scot which is a great little sailer. The 26S is more for weekend fun. Hope you enjoy the videos!
