One of my favourite albums in the 70´s. Saw them live 1976 in Ludwigshafen, Germany as opening act of Wishbone Ash. My first concert when I was 15 years old.
Unfairly forgotten band, they were German but sounded like the very best American AOR bands. Great sense of melody, fantastic rhythm section and superb keyboard
I heard this song for the first time in the '76 to '77 time-frame. It was in the early fall. I was just starting high-school in Alabama. Yes, Boston / Kansas / Styx / Heart / LRB / Chicago were among the mainstays of that time, but this song floored me. 1/3 of a century later, and I still feel young when I hear it. Though "Key" did "place" on the charts, too bad it didn't take off. They certainly gave it a go. Glad to see that Lake still has their RIGHTEOUS following, here on RU-vid.
The definite band from Germany. At the time they did their first 2 albums we were going crazy as it was 100% what we loved. Covering LAKE songs by the dozen :-) Even taking miserable live recordings from the radio. Ah, those times!
They fell under my radar until I found one of those seventies records at a market, remember when you bought albums because the artwork somekindaways talked to you. Recently a friend of mine went into the virtual world and replaced all of his vinyls to me. And among 240 lp's there were 4 more Lake ones, 77 to 81. Killer sound and music although his records have to go to the bathroom.
My very first concert, by a professional band.....In Villingen-Schwenningen "Messehalle B". My uncle had to drive us there. I won the ticket on the radio "SWF3"..... Wonderful memories!
This is off of Lake's self titled debut album. You can get it at Barnes and Noble. It's available with their 3rd album, Paradise Island as a double CD.
Tanx to a facebookgroup I found this song again after 35 years (!). I just remembered the name of the band; Lake. Really grateful to the person who helped me to find it again:)
I first heard these guys in my drummers garage after we got done rehearsing. Right away I knew I had a lot of practicing to do. Does anyone know which album this originally came off of? There were a ton of great tunes including "Time Bomb" on it and I cannot find it anywhere.
I found a cassette player in my attic, (I’m 13) end. It has a lake, cassette thingy, and it has this as the first song, but the saying, sounds distorted, how to fix.
