Lake LA-4-200 Buccaneer C-FWVF is seen taxiing and taking off from CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. Love these unique amphibious general aviation seaplane aircraft.
Great little plane. I had one 30 years ago. Not the fastest, nor quietest, "But a lot of fun". I landed on the lake and taxied up to my summer house, yes I was spoiled. No traffic jambs.
Question for Lake experts, I noticed the edges of the elevator seem fixed in the up position, so I guess these are not elevators at all, but some sort of tabs? Presumably to cancel out the props downward force.
The outer elevator flaps do work as elevators , but you are correct in that the middle section does not work as elevators, plus notice the long/ large wing flaps for lift. The climb rate to desired altitude is much slower with only the outer elevator flaps, and notice the single engine prop mount is slightly listed downward front to back. Descent is much quicker when outer elevator flaps are in the downward position. I just have done a little research, as i watch Jesse's videos on a regular basis, and he is in my top 2 sites because of his quality videos, and he has more aqua based planes than any of the sites i watch regularly, and he is a good friend. I only watch about 5 aviation sites regularly, another top one is Matt's aviation channel, usually films his planes out of Bern airport in Switzerland. Check his site out , you will be pleased. He gets an occassional 737, etc..., but you will see some top of the line private jets, rich folks going in to check on their swiss bank accounts and lock boxes in the vaults, lol. I am not a lake/water pro pilot, but i did major in aviation in college. Commercial/passenger flying, but grounded due to health reasons, and it has been a long time. I started college in 1982. You will probably get some more detailed info on this plane from Jesse's viewers, many very knowledgable pilots and folks who are plane enthusiasts on this site, some very smart folks.
WOW! look at how many views you have already, I was seconds away from flying in one of these very unique looking seaplane, and never had the opportunity to get a flight in one again. These are very rare in my area and if you see one at an airport they are rotting away. Keep up the GREAT work my friend :)
Thanks Ed, I was surprised at how many views this one received as well! Definitely a unique design, and I really do hope you have the chance to fly in one some day.
One unique amphibian. I got to ride in one once. Much different than the 152 I trained in to get my PPL. Although the Cockpit is larger (slightly) the throttle quadrant is above you.
That's really cool you got to fly in one of these, love the unique design of them. That's neat having the throttle controls overhead, must seem like a mini-Twin Otter (minus the twin) 😃
We had the 5 seat Lake Renegade based at our FBO. You definitely new it was in the pattern with that crazy sound it made. Putting fuel in those pontoons was a real pain too. CG must be an issue too. The owner had lead plates he put into and out of a compartment on the side of fuselage.
Definitely not the prettiest aircraft, but I actually kind of like it! Ya, there must be a lot of engineering going into the supports holding the engine up there.
The nacelle of a buccaneer is designed to withstand forward G forces beyond that which would be lethal to a human. Basically if that engine comes off, you've got bigger problems. Truly impressive aircraft
Great catch Jesse, that is a very nice design, good livery, the designs of these planes are how ufo's get reported, lol, my fave departure route also, bank right and head down the valley, great video my good friend
@@TheHDAviation yw Jesse my good friend, was a great rare catch, and yes, those not familiar with aircraft could surely report one as a ufo, lol, one that gets reported a lot is the avanti, with the elevators up front and wings toward the rear and with the position of the engines, they receive reports of planes/ ufo's flying backwards , lol, have a good day my good friend
With the propeller facing the opposite direction, it reminds me of Klunk’s and Muttley’s planes from Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines. “Into those planes and STOP THAT PIGEON!” Stop the pigeon! How?! Nab him, jab him, can him, ram him, DAMN HIM! STOP THAT PIGEON NOW!!! Muttley laughs his trademark wheezy laugh.
"phone rings" DD-Hello "Unintelligible yelling" DD-Oh it's you general "More unintelligible yelling" DD-no we goofed again "General hits DD on head with mallet" "Muttley laughs" "DD swipes muttley's medal" M-sassa fassa rassa fasun Rick rastardly "All planes crash into cliff"
