We have lived in Lake Las Vegas for years . Please check out the Westin Lake Las Vegas for a great local stay vacation or tourist vacation . They have 2 nice large pools with a water slide , beach rentals , restaurants , coffee shop , lounge , a nice Spa , and good shopping here to in the hotel lobby . Worth visiting or staying here a few nights .

You're right about wanting more choices for shopping and dining. Are there at least a couple of coffee houses? I have no problem going to the grocery store once or twice a week and cooking most of my meals. No grocery store in the community but, with one only a few miles away, seems like a bonus to me.
A Cool Coffee shop where people feel comfy to work all day or just hang out and read would be magic. Def not a Starkbucks - but a mom and pop coffee shop with lots of seating and all day feel

1. Is Lake Las Vegas a water source for the community? 2. What is the story about the water supply from Lake Mead? Are there short and long term water supply concerns?
Great question. Lake Las Vegas is not a water source - it is only a man made lake . we have 3 in the area Lake Las Vegas , Derert Shores and The Lakes . Las Vegas with not run ut of water and we can actually gain an extra 1 million people is our max. California get 80% thewater and they use alot for Fracking and other controversial uses. If There was a problem they would restrict the water to California and use.
Water is diverted from the Las Vegas Wash to fill Lake Las Vegas, any overflow runs into Lake Mead. Water from Lake Mead is intentionally being diverted which is causing the low water levels. There is plenty of water flowing from the Colorado into Lake mead. Its not climate change, its the government diverting the water, don't be fooled.
Not having a good grocery store, a school near by or playgound for kids are def the Cons. Not alot of familys live out here. Mostly people who have made their money and want resort style living. I should have included the 2 fitness centers in this as the 2 fitness centers are awesome - & the 1 you can paddle board out from.
There are 2 sides . North and South Shore. South Sore is expensive as guard gated and a condos hoa fees all in can be $875 a month. There are some homes at the entery that are more affordable with lower hoa fees. It really varies. There are affordable houses in the 400's. Of course, if you want a large lake view house, expect to pay 2 million or more. The HOA is high for condos and guarded communities. It is not for single family homes is gated communities. I pay $300 combined (master lake and local). There is a huge supermarket 3 miles away. I looked at many areas when I moved to Las Vegas and realtors really pushed Summerlin. Summerlin has nicer shopping but I like Lake Las Vegas better than anything they showed me in Summerlin and I was not limited by budget.
