It's not a big deal. They can always desalinate sea water if they have to, just like Israel. When you put millions of people in a dry area next to the ocean, you can pretty much expect it to come to that.

Clark County is fine. It's California who should be the ones worrying and start making the drastic changes... At 895 feet, Hoover Dam cannot release water down river to California and Mexico. Southern Nevada can still pump water at 875 feet. Colorado River use by state: California: 29% Colorado: 26% Arizona: 19% Utah: 11% Wyoming: 7% New Mexico: 5% Nevada: 2% Nevada is at zero risk of not having water. It is up river of California. 100% of Las Vegas drain water is recycled back into the lake. (Goes through 3 treatment stages, then released back into lake.) Nevada doesn't even use it's entire allotment of water from the Colorado River...it only uses 80% of its allotment. We take the least and don't even use our entire amount....we also conserve and recycle the most? Las Vegas and Nevada is not the problem!! Everyone else needs to start conserving more. The whole Colorado River allocation needs to be updated and everyone needs to get on board with water conservation and alternative methods of getting more water. Desalination and water pipelines will likely be needed in the near future if conservation by the river's largest users isn't taken seriously.

Same story, lived on that lake 1970-1990, Hoover Dam elementary school trips! I saw the water released and it was amazing! I fly to Vegas since moving to Texas in the 90s, that white line is huge! This really saddens me so much. Sandy Cove was our favorite spot!

It is terrifying. I’m just leaving about the water crisis as I don’t live on that side of the country. Scary stuff

I just saw a satellite comparison of LM from 2000 and 2015, I couldn't help but notice that LM was cut in half but Las Vegas doubled in size during the same time period.

I distinctly remember projections and estimations by experts back then of Mead drying up by about this time. And I remember a lot of people scoffing at the idea as “ridiculous”.

The lake was so big and beautiful back in the 1980s. People building big homes next to the water, now those homes are in the desert.

gives me hope. I was in the drive-thru yesterday at Taco Bell and some random person paid for my food-- just a random act of kindness. So today there was a guy at the gas station, nice dude, car broke down on interstate. He was waiting to get money wired from fam; He never asked me for money, just told me about his situation and that he had his car towed to mechanic. He was one of the few that really was down on his luck. I thought about just leaving, then I remembered that random person bought my lunch in the drive-thru, so knew I had to buy the guy something to eat. If more people would just do 1 good act for no reason every day, our world would be a much better place.

I’ve lived in CO for 50 years. Every decade I’ve wondered where is all the water gonna come from for the development that has occurred HERE. This kind of news needs to be broadcast on MSM but they won’t. Their sponsors apparently want to keep this hidden. Trying to imagine such folly would’ve been incomprehensible even 10 years ago. Shameful. We’re heading towards disaster with no steering wheel or brakes with the horrible legislators we presently have.

@@matthewclay6535 The problem is that we (the Southwest, particularly AZ) have been in a drought since 1994, and we have not had substantial and regular rains since then, hence why we're in a drought. However, I doubt that even if more rains came and came more regularly the problem would be solved. I think it's just an overpopulation issue along with climate change fuckin with the weather patterns and making it hotter here, plus all the misuse of water through inefficient farming, etc. I'm from Arizona and I like it here, but at this rate we're fucked.

Yes, it is. As far as I know, Las Vegas depend on it. Las Vegas and some other cities are dying and barely anyone notice it. You can also see this developement in realEstate prices there. Pretty much the only place where realEstatePrices didnt went up.

Should get a little relief this year the runoff from Yellowstone is bigtime alot of flooding there. The bigger the winter up north means alot of water going downhill south after the melt.

That is INSANE that people still insist on having lawns in this region! Here in Tucson it's extremely rare to have lawns and they should be flat out banned by the city. My yard contains only native plants that require exactly zero extra water from me. And to me, yucca and cactus look pretty awesome.

In Australia occasionally we have water restrictions. Most summers. You get fines if waterings lawns on days of week your street number isn't allowed. So if your last number is 3 or 7 you can water lawn that day etc. As for not having lawns, no it's better to have lawn or garden than nothing, especially artificial lawn . As lawns and gardens keep temperature down in house and in cities, so less energy used on air conditioning etc. So it's a balance of everything. Cement and plastic ain't a solution also. Native plants are a good alternative yes, as there is native or hardy lawns that need less water you can chose too.

Get your city government too educate them. The are selfish.
