Driving below the water level was a real trip. I've always wanted to go explore that old hotel. I'm fascinated with that area. Have to get some crazy water.
It was cool driving under the water level. The hotel awesome, but they have a fence around it now. They currently put 65 million dollars into rebuilding it. I can see this town becoming a Waco, Texas. The crazy water soda was good, the family would love it. Thanks for stopping by David. I always enjoy the chats.
That vending machine was cool, caught my attention and had to put in the video. We spent a good hour hanging around the cave, didn’t feel the heat since it was well shaded too. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting this video. My wife and I are currently at Possum Kingdom State Park, which is about 40 minutes away from Mineral Wells State Park. We plan to visit there on the way home.
Absolutely! Your going to love Mineral Wells State Park. Check out the town mineral Wells too and get some of that crazy water, you won’t be disappointed. How did you like Possum Kingdom? I’m going there this weekend, that’s my next video 😃
@@MrSTravelQuest We REALLY liked Possum Kingdom State Park. We stayed in one of the cabins. Due to the chilly weather, we practically had the entire park to ourselves. You are about to take a trip to one of the most beautiful state parks in Texas . My suggestion is that you be sure to take everything with you that you’ll need during your time there. ( I forgot to bring my toothbrush.) The camp store at Possum Kingdom State Park is currently closed. The nearest Wal Mart is about 45 minutes away from the park. After we checked out of Possum Kingdom State Park, my wife and I went to Mineral Wells State Park. While there, we went on the Penitentiary Hollow trail, like you and your family did in the video. Then I drove around the park and the town. In my opinion, this is also one of the most beautiful state parks that we have visited. After we left the park, my wife bought some Crazy Water. It was a great trip.
Glad you checked out Mineral Wells SP. Its an underrated park in my opinion. The town is pretty cool too. I can see that town being as popular as Waco, Texas when the historic hotel opens up. I’m excited to visit Possum Kingdom this weekend. Thanks for the heads up on nearest Walmart. I know some of these parks are far from any stores. Anything you recommend me checking out in the park? I want to make sure I do it justice when I make that video.
Great video. This definitely looks like something we want to do. Y’all really do a great job of creating informational content in an entertaining way. Question: was there an accessible swimming area?
Thank you so much! The beach area had two sides. The one with the sand didn’t look like it was ADA accessible. The other side had a ramp for fishing. We hope you get a chance to make it out there, it’s a beautiful park.
We were so impressed with the beautiful rock formations! It was absolutely beautiful and fun to climb. Swimming area had no shade but the kids didn’t seem to mind.
@@lgonzalesp this is another great park. Kids love exploring and then jumping in the water after a long hike. Did you get a chance to visit the town Mineral Wells? That’s a cool little town with a historic hotel.
Very nice bro! The trails looked pretty well maintained. The cave and overlooks look awesome. Would like to visit the park. That hotel was big, I’ve heard about it. “Crazy water”
Ronie Calzoncinth You and the family would love this park. You could probably knock out all the hiking trails on your visit. Next time we go I plan on checking out the trail way. The crazy water was pretty cool too! Thanks for watching Ronnie, I always appreciate it brother!
Thank you! I try to highlight each park we visit. I forget the price of the crazy water, but it was not expensive. $1.50-$2.00 I believe. I hope you visit Mineral Wells soon and thanks for watching.
Great video man. I'm from waco, currently waiting for the weather to get better before I go hiking again. Question is there a fee for dogs to go in the park

Dude RV No I didn’t get to see the puma! This park was awesome, I would dare say it’s a hidden gem. Have you been on the trail way? Going to go back and check it out soon.
@@MrSTravelQuest I did not make it onto the trailway, I was only there for one night due to very poor planning on my part. I did a three park weekend on that tip, Fort Richardson, Possum Kingdom and Lake Mineral Wells. Not knowing what I now no I booked two nights at Possum Kingdom and one each at the other two. I really wish I had booked the two nights at Mineral Wells. I did get to see the puma but not up close, it crossed the road in front of me at about 50 years. there are reports from campers who have seen the big cat take down deer in the camping loops.
We're coming to the park this coming weekend. Which trail would you recommend to do that is close to the river. Or what is the most beautiful route not to be missed? Thanks!!!
Red Waterfront Trail is a must when visiting the park. You can see point of interest 1-3 and it's near the water. Penitentiary Hollow is on this trail as well. This part of the park amazing. I loved this park and it was amazing! The town is pretty neat too, happy hiking!
@@MrSTravelQuest Thank you very much we will definitely check it out. Do you have any recommendations for Possum Kingdom Lake, we are thinking of visiting there after the mineral park.
I haven’t visited that park yet, but it’s on my list. We’re going to Guadalupe River SP this weekend. If you go to Possum Kingdom let me know how you like it. Thanks for subscribing :-)
Question on 3:31 what do you mean for rock climbing and hiking only? Also We are looking into camping here next month maybe and that point of interest looks awesome but right now the park says rock climbing is closed due to water so im wondering if that means we wont get to walk trough those caves. Any chance you might know if the rock climbing and those caves share the same entrance? Thanks
I meant the area has rock climbing and hiking. To rock climb you have to sign a waiver at park headquarters 👉tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-mineral-wells/rock-climbing/#guide-services . It's been raining all over Texas and they usually close trails down due to safety. The rock climbing and hollows (cave) are in Penitentiary Hollows. The park facebook page does a great job posting which trails are closed for the day. You can check that out here 👉facebook.com/lakemineralwells . It's a wonderful park and hope you enjoy your visit. If you have any other questions let me know. Happy hiking!
What an amazing region to explore; quite the backdrop for adventure! Keep on smiling and creating great content! If you ever get a chance, we'd be honored if you swung by our small corner of RU-vid sometime as well!
