Exploring the Lake Placid area in New York from September 20th to 22nd, 2021. Taking the Cumberland Head - Grand Isle ferry from Grand Isle to Plattsburgh. Camping in North Pole Campground in Wilmington. Riding the elevator to the top of one of the ski jumps at the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex. Driving the Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway to the castle. Climbing to the summit of Whiteface Mountain. Hiking to the summit of Cascade Mountain as hike number 39 of our 52 Hike Challenge. Strolling the streets of Lake Placid and relaxing next to Mirror Lake.

I love that you started with a map showing the area you covered in during your trip. I’m planning a trip next month, and have watched so many videos about great places to visit, but then have to do a ton of research to figure out where the places really are. In many cases, it turned out that they’re not actually all that close to Lake Placid. I just became a subscriber! ❤

Thank you for subscribing! Yes, we like seeing where we are and where we are going. Even though we use Google Maps heavily, we still open up a physical road atlas every now and then to get our bearings.

Hi! Just finished watching your video on your trip to Lake Placid. How was your hike to Cascade Mountain? All trails say it's a hard hike.

Yes, it is a hard hike, but not too extreme. What makes it hard is the steepness along with the rough terrain, very rocky. It gave our legs, knees and ankles a workout. For more details, check out our blog post: www.redtaillodge.com/blog/lake-placid-new-york-september-20th-to-22nd-2021
