Your elbow pain made me chuckle a little. I was wading through the river yesterday, and as I was netting a 40 (on the chopper), I slipped and hit my knee on a rock. In the moment couldn’t feel a thing. A few min later I couldn’t lift my foot a foot off the ground.

Would love a little more of the edutainment factor and how/why you choose a specific lure. I understand if that doesn't interest you, though. Regardless, great video!

I completely explained why I was using the Boilermaker, because the fish were high in the water column.

@@TodaysAngler thanks, I caught that. My comment was more in general and not necessarily specific to this video. With so many choices out there, many very similar to each other, I'm always curious how the pros make a decision haha. In the context of this video, I understand the fish were high in the water column, but did any other factors contribute to your decision to use a boilermaker versus any other lure that runs high?

I used to catch big pike and musky on a cheap ZEBCO rod and reel. Old school junk that was less than reliable. It was a long fight using 12 lb test line but it was so fun! I won some battles by being patient and letting the fish tire itself out. I lost some battles too. It took 20 minuets to land some of them but it was so much fun! Now they use 80 lb test line and super strong rods and reels to catch the same kind of fish. Where is the fun in that? An angler plays the fish and tries to outsmart the fish during the battle. Now they just winch them in using super line and high tech gear. That is not fun to me. That is just too easy. Most of these fish are in the net in less than 60 seconds. That defeats the fun part. Battling the fish and being scared of losing it not knowing if the fish will break off during battle is the fun part. The fish does get tired from the long fight but still lives to fight another day. Fishing today is like NASA vs NATURE. No contest! I still use 12 pound test for all my fishing trips. The tackle is much more reliable now so I lose less fish but the game is still the same. Play the fish and let it play you and have some fun fighting the fish! That is just my opinion. No disrespect to anyone in this video. They are having fun too I just like to have the fight last awhile. It gets the adrenalin pumping when you don`t know if you are going to win or lose.

Nice fish...the net guy was holding the slack of the bottom while the fish was going in the net...I think that's why the big one came out.
