Nice. I used to go camping in my teenage years. Used to go to Lake Lyell at Lithgow with my boyfriend at the time. It was nice!

That was such a fun camping trip! I wish I was younger, because I used to love camping when I was young. Just frying some sausages in an old frypan on an open fire (not many electric barbecues in those days) and paddling in creeks or at the beach. Camping was much less regulated and you could camp on the foreshore in many places for free. I used to like Hervey Bay as they had a skating rink beside the beach as well.

I got my driver's licence in Singleton more than forty years ago. I was driving illegally escaping domestic violence in Sydney, and was pulled over in Singleton for speeding. The police took pity on me and said I could etiher drive on and take my chances, or stay the weekend and get my licence the next week. So I stayed. I had my mother and six week old baby with me as well. Fortunately Mum had enough money for the motel. Then we had to stay an extra day because you had to hold your learner's permit for 24 hours before getting your licence. The police sat in the car, I drove around the block, they asked me a few road questions (got one wrong!) and the officer said, "You've driven all the way here from Sydney. Obviously you can drive", and he granted my licence. I was eternally grateful for their kindness. We went to Qld and stayed. (I was from Qld originally.) So every time I hear of Singleton, I remember it with fondness, in spite of the fact that it was such an unhappy time in general.
