A couple years ago I danced with a 70 year-old Filipino grandma at a birthday party and made friends with her whole family as “that nice dancing white boy”. This is great advice!
This may sound crazy, but this song makes me a little teary. In a good way. The idea of the universal languages of dance and music bringing people together is beautiful. If all the strangers in the world could dance with each other, imagine the possibilities💙
This is still one of my favorite SOUL BANDS to come out of the States in the last decade or so. The U.S. USED TO produce the best soul bands in the world in abundance. That's all but gone now. I'm glad to see that LSD is helping to keep the flame alive.
@@Optometrist It’s pop, however, it’s deep in the styles of Motown and ‘70s dance-funk pop (not straight disco). It’s not ‘60s soul music, where there’s a clear emphasis on beats 2 and 4. The groove is more complex than four-on-the-floor. I get a gentle emphasis on beat one. The bass line was probably inspired by James Jamerson, whose playing is on most of the songs from Motown Records. Bridget nailed the perfect balance between groove and a second melody.
Man. I was just having one those thoughts us musicians have. Like, what are we doing with this thing we've spent our lives doing? Why the hell is it even important? You saved me in the nick of time, Lake Street. And at least in this moment, made me smile. Thank you.
I keep watching this, thinking I'll stop tearing up with joy/sorrow/nostalgia, but no! Gets me every time. I can't dance much anymore, but I sure would, with this song in my heart. .Thank you all so much.
Just move your arms, your head , small movements, any part that can move, in time to the music and you’ll find yourself dancing. Dancing is also a state of mind. Be well both of you.
