I honestly can't believe how good this is wow....... nothing like hearing something for the first time that resonates so deeply it's like catching up with an old friend.
Such special cohesion. We can be so proud that these musicians found what they needed at the New England Conservatory and then went lightyears into creativity. And they've stayed the course for a decade. Another Day, Another Time.
Ever since I first discovered them long ago, I've fallen in love with all of them and the delightful real music they play. Long may they enjoy and prosper.
Just perfect 7 years ago... Thanks God I found LSD a couple of weeks ago and I am listening to every song I can dig. Perfect musicians. Live performances are when truth comes out. Hope destiny can keep´em together and evolving. Sooo good !!! Congrats, be sure you are beyond the standard of quality musicians and quality music.
I love these raw sounding groups playing into really expensive audio gear its great and very effective. Great song writing and unique sound. Its like acoustic Zeppelin with an RnB singer.
I completely disagree. they do not have the equivalent of a Jimmy page or John Jones. I mean Jimmy was one of the best of all time, and most of the time he would take over songs. rachel is the centerpiece of this band. but they wouldn't be the same band if they had an over powering lead guitarist. they are perfect the way they are
These folks are all amazing, and I love the sound that Bridget Kearney gets out of that bass. Awesome stuff, with some of the tightest syncopations I have ever heard out of a "rock band" (these guys are so much more than that, I had to put it in quotes).
Wow. Just freakin' wow. Great sound. Great voice, (understatement), great band. And if you get a chance to see them live (been fortunate to see them twice) they-will- blow-you- away!
We'll all have different opinions about this but... For me there is a very small group of singers that have always blown me away. Aretha Franklin, Cass Elliot, and Patsy Cline. Seriously, I bet Aretha Franklin sound good brushing her teeth. Until now there was pretty much everyone else in their rear-view mirrors. Until now. Move over ladies and welcome Ms. Rachel Price to the lineup. Absolutely, positively, incredible. Her voice will make your head resonate (in a good way). Saw them live a couple nights ago and was amazed. Magnetic, can't look away good. If you get the chance, SEE THEM LIVE!
It's hard to imagine anything better than this. The tone on that beautiful hollow-body, the upright bass, the sound from the drums (recorded perfectly, btw), the AMAZING Rachael Price and her seemingly effortless soulful voice. If I were to construct the perfect band and have them play the perfect song, I'd be too late, because it's already been done and this is it. Getting choked up while I write and listen to this because it's just so, so good.
Just picked up tix for a show in Philly. I haven't looked forward to a show this much in a long time. All beautiful stuff. Thanks for the BUMP Stephen.
Kick ass power on vocals and instruments. Awesome. This is so freakin' good it gave me chills, I shed a tear and I think my weaner wiggled a little bit too.
That's a Miktek CV4 in figure 8 pattern, running directly into an Allen & Heath console (internal mic pre). Whole session is a live 2 track mix, mixed on headphones in the same live room as the players---studio control room was not used. - Aaron
Thanks for those details, I was wondering and could hear that it was a better mic from the getgo. Nice detail there in Rachael's voice. Got love A&H British Pre's for the win. Enjoyed all the outside "Steely Dan" voicing and syncopation. A tour de force really.
@david lassell : Off the top of my head, the other mics are: RE20 on kick, Raven on snare, pair of Miktek C7's for drum overheads, bass is DI from the head, e609 on guitar, B58 on drummer vocal, and Miktek PM9 on bass vocal. -- Aaron
It may remind you of Amy but she was a slavish and mediocre copier of superior talents. LSD are forging their own identity and writing cool original songs.
So sad. They were to perform at Old Settlers Music Fest and canceled, for some reason, on the day of their scheduled appearance. Darn!!!!! Awesome soul she projects!
