Tryggvi Traustason how sad is your life, that travelling so far to see this band is the best decision you've made so far in your life. you must have made some pretty fucked up decisions in your life.
Upright bass has nothing to do with it. As a child visiting the UK, Bridget had to suffice with a pencil, dental floss and an empty pork and beans tin to entertain a pub's patrons with a little diddy. We now know the song as "Roundabout".
Dang. This girl got deep, deep roots and soul. I haven't been this shocked by a young white girl's voice since Susan Tedeschi nearly 20 years ago. Thank goodness soul and roots and blues influences refuse to die. Rock on.
Gabriel Canto You can't make it in entertainment these days as a woman without being adorable, no matter how talented you are ... well, I guess Susan Boyle is an exception. :)
I have just spent the last hour listening to all of their RU-vid videos and and their albums over and over. Bad Self Portraits is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life!
What makes you think the international community is interested in GOOD musIc and actual talent? It's and image over substance market these days. There is a great documentary from about 15 or 18 years ago called "Before the Music Dies". I believe you can still find it on RU-vid. It introduced me to Joe Bonamasa.
What a great song! Such a voice on the lead singer. The drummer sings pretty well, too, and looks like Vince Vaughn a little, ha ha. Thanks to Colbert for my intro to them with You Go Down Smooth.
I went to see them play in London, England just a few days ago. They were great and Rachel is a fine performer/singer. Got to ask her about how she keeps her voice in good shape. She was very nice. Thank you, Lake Street Dive!
Don’t get me wrong, I could listen to Rachel sing all day long. But they need to include more of Mike’s vocals! Love love love this song, definitely one of my favorites.
Rick Wolger Indie jazz??? Wow, this is what it sounds like? I heard of that branch of indie music, (I love everything indie :3) but I've never actually listened to that genre. Thanks for the sudden musical enlightenment! XD
every video performance by LSD on You Tube is just plain fun ! I can't tell you how good the bass player is....an acoustic, fretless upright bass is so hard to master---and Bridget does! on a sexist note, Bridget has great legs, too!
Yeah I wish I would have met you when I was 17 too. Rachel's got such a voice and a kinda different style of swagger on stage then anyone. I could wAtch for hours.....and we'll I do...lol
Ditto to all the pos comments about Lake Street Dive...but one observation I'd like to add is the fact that they capture their recording sessions live - which is better than any musicvideo ever made. It also gives a glimpse of the real talent and power of artists - these folks in particular. They are just so skilled and obviously gifted. Rachel Price may well be our Arthurian hero when it comes to slaying auto-tune. (Sorry Antares)
Saw them last night in St.L> Fun fun fun. Was thinking that 17 is some kind of reference to " When she was just 17", by the beatles. And there is a part in the song where they could go straight into Lola, L o L a .
I’d never heard of Rachel Price until I saw her hit that stage at Lockin’ Festival as a major part of the Jefferson Airplane official 50 year anniversary tribute, I knew within a few seconds, I would be a forever fan she is so friggin good!!!! And, I consider her now a member of the Jefferson AIrplane as well!
I have only purchased a down load album this year, Lake Street Dive Part Grateful Dead, part Smoky Michael s and the Miracles and part just completely KOOL!
