It seems those days are gone. It’s all about me me me. I too extend his invitation to visit the great state of Texas. South Padre Island is tropical and beautiful if that’s your thing.

My dad spent several years camped under the tree next to bathroom at gravel sites showed in video. Some Texas friends has his name in the concrete table pad.”General” is scribed in. The guy was called the general.
I always go to Eisenhower State Park, which is on the texas side. After more than 10 years I never get tired of going there... As for this particular place, I really was hoping to see more acomodations like shelters or more campsites... Lake texoma is a big and beautiful lake and deserve beautiful places to camp and destress from the daily city life...
went there several years ago,,,,,if you want to learn to appreciate Texas state Parks and Corp of Engineers parks in Texas,,,,,go to Oklahoma state parks,,,,,,we stayed at the first place where you 'paced off' the length,,,but summer time and it was 'packed' with campers ,,,might as well have been on the wal mart lot,,,,( do they still have several blocks of derelict old camping condos in deplorable condition,,,? ) I'll take Texas !
@@DudeRV more than likely,,,,they were on a little road to the check in building,,,,they appeared to be an 'attempt' to make a sort of 'resort' type area,,,,probably from the 40's or so,,,terrible shape .....good show, keep up the good work.
@@DudeRV There's 2 more campgrounds, a swim beach, fishing dock, 5 more boat ramps, 1 or 2 more pavilions, and a hiking trail. The state park is on both sides of Catfish Bay.
@@willgreen9936 Well shoot! that means I have to go back! I was not able to find any park maps and the signage at the entrance certainly did not indicate that there was more to the park on that road other than the airport and the marinas.
That park was split in half and sold to private land developers almost 20 years ago. They promptly went bankrupt and it's sat neglected since. The Chickasaw Nation has bought the land for a resort, and they're waiting for the 5 year Trust to kick in. I live across the road from the park, and Texans crowd shoulder to shoulder during holidays. It's bad.

The campsites on the south side are state owned also. That area is called Ben's campground. The facilities used to be very nice on the Northside with Pavillions and showers, but a flood destroyed it all. The state does the bare minimum for that park. It used to have two golf courses, recreation center with fishing docks, horse stables, large resort hotel with a pool ect. Former Governor Mary Fallon sold it to her Oil Baron Buddies.
