The day started out with a plan for a solo trip back up Buckland Spur to Tomahawk Hut and then return via Wildhorse Gap Track. Some rain in the week preceding saw to it that, that, just wasn't going to be the case.
Instead I met up with Paul, Jenny and their buddy from QLD, Mark and we tackled Evans Creek Track, the 'easy' way from Lake WIlliam Hovell to Tomahawk Hut.
All in the effort to get the Queenslander to the epic Craig's Hut!

I'm not a great fan of the 76, 78 and 79 but the sound of them at full song going up that slippery hill is their one saving grace.

There is that for sure. Mines with only a stock exhaust as well! :-)

The mightly V8, be interesting to see how the 2.8l Ineos would have handled that hole!🧐

Great little drive that but geez a little bit of moisture on that Track makes a HUGE difference. Just curious ...... is that river crossing that has been 'rebuilt' for Fireys access ...... is it the Buckland spur Track coming back the opposite way from its intersection with Evans Track? Cheers.

The rebuilt crossing is of Evan's creek on the lake rd before you get to the start of Buckalnd Spur. It's between Buckland Spur and Evan's Creek Track at their northern end.

What a great video, 😂..and Track information. Making that mud run in full noise without winching, would’ve been better than sex I’d say. …😂 You can see your smile from 200 m away

lol always the wordsmith mate. It was definitely pretty good. Back when I was still running the road terrains.

You wouldnt want to be by yourself at that mud point, didn’t seem to be much to winch off.

Paul, who went up first we ended up winching off a large fallen tree on the left of the track, pretty solid and heavy, but other than that not a lot. Certainly easier when there's at least 1 other person who can run the winch rope out for you.

Funny how a little water can make things so different. You did well to get up there but then again a Navara & a Ranger, They were never going to make it lmfao.

@@OffTheBeatenPathAus Yeah I know, I like bagging out other vehicles especially Rangers lmfao. It's all in fun though. I remember when I first got the Pajero I was leading a run out at Morisset and tracks that were normally really easy became like ice after the rain. I recall one part in particular I was just sliding all over the place trying to get through, I made it but thought there would be heaps stuck. Fortunately only 1 or 2 vehicles out of about 15 needed help.

Only thing is the other ute is a BT50, I guess from the year it's from its developed off the ranger platform i think. :-)

@OffTheBeatenPathAus 24:49 that's clearly a Ford Badge. Pretty sure they were both run under the same basic design though.

@@OnCountryWithMick lol pretty sure upon reflection you're right now, it's even clearer on a front view, not a BT50, ranger..... was sure paul had said it was a BT50 but probably not, par for the course for me to screw up car models for other peoples cars 🙂
