I’m a carpenter of over 40 years and you made that roof look so easy. Hope you get a roofer to do the rest !!! That’s going to be a hard roof to put metal on. I’m retired now and having so much fun watching you and your wife build your dream home. By the way, she could work on my crew any day. Looking forward to the rest of the build.

Thanks Ron. We appreciate the comments. Made it look easy with the power of editing. 😂 I was cursing the whole time and commenting that we should have built a flat roof as it would be much easier. Such a construction would never be approved in Germany. No cross braces, no tensioning straps to absorb the wind power, but I still find it interesting. Thank you

The code calls for sheathing on top of trusses and some sort of solid material (typ drywall) on the underside so it locks top and bottom together. Cross braces are also used to stiffen bottom but with cathedral ceiling you cant really do that. I also find it interesting to see builds around the world and different techniques and requirements! I am curious how long ago was this video filmed. It is summer here but yall look like yall are all wrapped up in winter/early spring clothing? Normally I see people posting one to two weeks after the filming. Just curious, but do enjoy watching yall timelapse through the house. I am sure you will be glad to be down with the rafters, then decking and roofing. Keep up the good work and I will continue to watch yall every Thrusday.

Kev, are going to do the roofing, or have it done. I mean the ice and water shield and other underlayment material besides ice and water shield plus shingles.

Yes, we are doing the roofing ourselves. 😀 Ice & Water shield over the entire roof and then standing seam steel panels on top.

Yes, same steel roof as what we installed on the Garage. Yes, we will do it ourselves. (Actually doing it as we speak 😂). So it will be covered in future episodes. Thanks for watching!

Hard to tell. Are using 5/8 inch ply for the roof or 3/4 inch. It seriously looks like 5/8

It is 5/8” plywood. That is what the steel roof manufacturer recommends as the underlayment.

Certainly not. You could build a flat roof or a single slope roof but what fun would that be. 😂 As much as I am cursing the complexity of it, I think it looks great and adds lots of visual interest! Thanks for watching!
