12-15-1994. NOTE: [[Game joins in progress at 12-13 score and is missing last 15 seconds LAKERS WON GAME 97-94. All that's missing are the last 15 secs with LA up 96-94 and HOU fouled LA and LA hit 1 free throw that didn't alter the outcome and that was the end. ALL FINAL FIELD GOALS FROM BOTH TEAMS ARE INCLUDED IN VID, only 1 Laker FT is missing. Sorry if this spoils the outcome, but I already had 2 people ask who won it so I'm gonna end that confusion going forward.]]

Early Lake Show game w/ some good donks and Eddie/Nick/Ced action. This was the kind of glorious game after the Threatt years that was such a Renaissance from our post-Showtime slump. Not knocking Sedale at all, he is one of my favorite Lakers ever, but the teams from 91-94 were amorphous. Mostly 8th seed region teams, bad mixes of old and young. By 93/94, coach Randy Pfund was fired and they went full lottery and wound up getting Eddiie w/ the 10th pick. He was incidentally the best pick left at the 8-13 region in the 1994 Draft. E.G. Boston took Eric Montross with the 9th. Thankfully Eric was white so Boston had to have him and we got Eddie.
==
And thankfully we got Nick because he was an easy lottery pick and one of the top 3 guards in the 1st round, but he handled the pre-draft workouts very poorly. Didn't show up to two of them and got into an argument with George Karl in SEA. I remember Karl on TV saying, "You know....we coaches talk to each other." And then NVE promptly sunk like a brick to the 2nd round (37th pick). Anyway, enjoy!!!!11...

Sam Bowie blocking Olajuwon at the rim was the highlight of his life! Fun game, thanks. I'm glad you posted the score, though, because damn that was a close game against the defending and soon to be crowned again champions. The Garbage Man was a beast! This was his lone all star season as well as the season he went for 50 against the Wolves. In this game, he went for 36 points, 10 rbds, 3 asts and a steal. Vlade was the only Laker starter NOT to score in double digits although he had 11 boards, 2 dimes, 2 steals and 2 blocks to round out his line and go with his 8 points. Eddie had 16 and a board. All the Rockets starters scored in double figures with The Dream having a routinely outrageous line of 22 pts, 14 rbds, 6 asts, 4 blocks and a steal. Baby Big Shot Rob had 19 pts, 6 asts and 9 rbds. Man, I used to hate guys like Sleepy Floyd, Vernon Maxwell and Otis Thorpe on the Rockets. They were sneaky good. Not necessarily flashy guys but they could get the job done. It's never not weird seeing George Lynch as a Laker. I mean, I know they drafted him high out of UNC, but he just looks weird in the purple and gold. Was he the last 24 before Kobe?

Ay, brotha IE Chriso. I liked Sam. He did all right by US, I dunno about Portland. Dude was absolutely cursed w/ chalk legbones tho, not his fault lest he never liked drinking milk. I thought Big Sam was a great 2nd C and a stand-up rim protector and had finesse and went up strong when need be. West tried to sign him for another year or two, but Sam wanted to retire. I think Shea Seals or Fred Roberts was the last 24, but even that could be wrong. Popular number. Seals might be that dude.

I also heard that the scar on NVE's eye brow also added to his fall on draft night.

True and he didn't get a lot of back down turnaround fading baseline shots as at 3:45. He used to get baseline shots, but usually midway between the paint and side trey line and not with a foul to boot. Doing that against shorty Maxwell was one thing, but when they got Drexler to replace him later that year, I guarantee he didn't back down Clyde. More like the other way around. Clyde, Mike, Mitch, and Isaiah "J.R." were his 4 nemesis 1:1. All bulkier and/or stronger than thin Ed, but we loved Eddie just the same. He did have a couple of nice blocks on MJ tho. He was one of the very few who could reach Mike's fadeaway jumper after the release point. Blocking ANY of Mike's shots was a mini-achievement.

i wish these 2 teams played in the 95 playoffs. lakers wouldn't have won, but i think they would've given the rockets match-up problems.

Imagine if Lynch had been decent. We'd probably look at the '93 draft as one of the best for the Lakers.
