I MISS FUNK MUSIC..... We have nothing nowadays except for maybe Bruno Mars and although he's good, it ain't enough. Back in the day we had: Cameo, Lakeside, The Gap Band, The Isley Brothers The BarKays, Heatwave, Slave feat Steve Arrington, Rick James, Tina Marie Parliament Funkadelic, Midnight Star, Atlantic Star, G.Q. The Whispers Guy Klymax, (all girl band) Aurra, ConFunkShun, Bootsy Collins The Ohio Players Kool and the Gang Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam The Time Prince War Third World Rufus Chic Change Undisputed Truth BT Express KC and Sunshine Band L.T.D. feat. Jeffrey Osborne Maze feat. Frankie Beverly Brick The Dazz Band, Sly and the Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Roll Royce The S.O.S. Band Toni Toni Toni etc....etc....... And a ton of other one hit wonder funk songs from various artists. Like D-Train........We need to bring the Funk back. The 80's - early 90's Funk was the best time for dance music. We had it made in the 80's with so much to choose from and let me tell ya, i bought them all and we partied our asses off to these great funk songs and artists. What great memories from the best era and only era of funk music. I MISS FUNK MUSIC, BRING IT BACK. Please!
You've got to talk to the younger generation, everyone wants to be a rapper, its easier than learning an instrument and they don't have to split the money!
One of my favorite bands! They are so underrated. From ballads to funk they do it all especially their smooth version of The Beatles "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"!
I know I've said this b 4 but it continues to blow my mind @ how the audience knows all of the words to all of the artists songs. Eban brown (former lead singer of the Stylistics) said it blew his mind @ how asian fans over seas knew all the words to their music.....in english.....🤔
Mello. You must be pretty young. Back in the day you could see Lakeside, Gap Band, and Brothers Johnson on the same show for $20 at the Omni in Atlanta. And you would come home with a pocket full of phone numbers if you went with your boys and left your girl at home. lol! She would probably dump you any way for not taking her.
Lol..no not so young actually, my older brother loved Lakeside, The Bar-kays, Funkadelic, Jimi Hendricks, Cameo, Con Funk Shun, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Ohio Players, and so on. He was my music teacher basically. Then my older sister loved The Isley Bros., The Gap Band, Yusef Lateef, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, John Coltrane, Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, and so many others I can't think of. I was a kid but grew up listening and loving these various artists! Some of the best years of my life!
I saw Lakeside, Confunkshun and Tierra , 1980, right before leaving for the military. Saw that massive concert, then Switch, Kano, Fatbak Band And Barkays. The whole time everyone was dancing, moving to the grooves, worlds apart from also seeing ELO, Boston, Edgar Winter. All good but for me, a lil ‘ mo’ soul, a lil less rock n roll, lol. Vegas concerts, 79 and 80. Then into the Fortis Defensor, SF-USAF. My fun, care free world would change to all the way live and up close reality...
mello I saw them in Hampton Va on a show with Cameo in 1984. The blew Cameo off the stage. People were actually booing Cameo and they were the headliners.
