I recognised the cars from the 1969 Tasman championship straight away. I saw the race in Melbourne, with Hill, Rindt, Amon and others. It was as close as we came to seeing Formula 1 racing in Australia, until the GP in Adelaide, many years later. Sandown, Lakeside, Warwick Farm and Longford were the regular tracks used in Australia, plus 3 or 4 tracks in New Zealand. It was a fantastic time for motor racing in Australia.
exactly atleast theres something whether it be ride days rallycross drag racing stunt shows car shows cruises and even rallycross and supermoto on the skid pan track i think that was a greatt addition that can bring in more money for track maintenance and new pit shelter
0:36 Dick Johnson was born 26 April 1945 - why would he be "so young that his mother would need to sign his consent form" in 1964, when he debuted. This means he'd have been aged either 18/19. Great reporting 7news...
Unfortunately I think it's days are numbered. With all the complaints about noise now, they'll probably "fix" the problem by putting a highway through it. Such a shame, just like Oran and Amaroo Park in Sydney
Well you don't have to worry now, it has been resurfaced again and Dick was nowhere to be seen. And as a side note, Dick was asked to test the track its not his fault
Is this about Lakside or Dick Johnson? He was the one who took out a v8 supercar on to the track 2 days after it was resurfaced and and completely ruined the track! thanx Dick, for ruining a good track for all of us club riders who were unfortunate to race on this otherwise awesome track!!!!
