This is a reupload of one of 257's fire alarm videos that was unlisted, and then privatized by RU-vid in July 23rd. This time capsule features Simplex 4903-9219 horn strobes doing code 3. This was originally uploaded in 2007. I do not take any credit from his videos. I do not know the original description for this video.

I don't like how RU-vid privated old unlisted videos, I find it kind of irritating. I had to reupload some stuff because of that change.

I don’t like it neither. It was a pretty inconsiderate and unnecessary change. I only saved videos I did like, but I wish I can go back and save as much as I could before RU-vid performed the “security update”, but I didn’t want to fill up my computer space. The videos I’ve saved were either on my mega playlist, a few other alarm playlists, and the video with Simplex bell doing Simplex 2001 March time I reuploaded was from the fire panel forums. I even saved some of NewAgeServerAlarm’s unlisted videos he had. The only issue is if he would be okay with it, considering he referred to those videos as “obsessed idiot” videos.

@@CoolSimasGuy Exactly, idk why RU-vid does stuff like this. I actually reuploaded some of NewAgeServerAlarm's videos not too long ago.

@@Firealarm Ohh good. Hopefully we might be able to see them eventually. I know Andrew isn’t on RU-vid much anymore, but I still watch his videos periodically to ride the nostalgia trip. I was also able to save a few videos from his Novar Lynx channel as well, which I’m planning to release. I’m thinking whether if I should keep the NewAgeServerAlarm videos unlisted, but put them in a public playlist, or just publish them. It’s not like I’m making money off of the videos I’m reuploading that aren’t mine.

@@CoolSimasGuy Nice, maybe RU-vid will revert this change one day. Also, did you know that H. Ensworth closed his channel? That erased a good part of my nostalgia trip.

@@Firealarm No I didn’t. Thats really unfortunate. I remember when his channel was SimplexAlarms or something like that. I’m thinking of creating a new channel to just reupload old alarm videos and post them on there. The issue is, it’ll take a while to find those videos or people who actually saved these time capsules.

One video that I sorta wish someone saved when it was still possible (I would have if I had known it would've gone missing eventually) is "morning wakeup call". The video started in what appeared to be someone's apartment, with a person closing a door behind them next to a barely-visible speaker/strobe. The sound of System Sensor MASSes in 1200hz Interrupted can be heard in the background. Almost immediately after the door closes, the speaker/strobe begins playing a whoop tone, & then a message: "May I have your attention please! May I have your attention please! There has been a fire reported on your floor! There has been a fire reported on your floor! Please proceed to the stairway, & exit the building! Do not use the elevators!". The cameraman then goes outside, showing the MASSes in the hall that are sounding in 1200hz Interrupted, & some people down the hall who are apparently unsure of what to do, as they're all standing in a group. I believe that was it for the video. Anyone remember this one?

I know exactly what you're referring to... the speaker/strobe was a Gentex SPK4 and this was a 1990's Notifier system - anything from an AFP-300 to an AM2020 was possible. The initiating devices were BGX-101L pulls and CPX-551 detectors (ionization equivalent to the SDX-551).

@@randompersonFire Nice to know I'm not the only one who remembers that video, shame it's apparently lost to time though. Definitely interesting how it combined voice evacuation inside the apartments & non-voice evacuation outside them.

Condensation can shorten out a detector by moisturizing the wires that connect to the detector which will allow electrical currents to jump to another wire due to small water particle droplets being an electrical conductor which will set off the the fire alarm system
