This is captured in Vosso / Bolstad river, and shows how Two days by this extremely beautiful river can act out….. www.bolstadelva.com
The VossoSalmon is famous for its enormous size. For centuries anglers came from far and wide to catch what was regarded as the world's largest Atlantic salmon. In the good old days the average weight was well over 10kg. The largest could weigh more than 30kg. People came from all around the world to experience this beautiful river, with its massive salmon.
At the end of the 1980s there were over and out for the wild salmon in Vosso river. No one can say with certainty what caused the collapse of the population. Many factors are mentioned : construction of roads, acid rain, escaped farmed salmon and sea lice.
But luckily the "VossoGenes" were safely stored in a gene bank.
The river has now been closed to normal fishing since 1992 , while the job of getting up again sustainable population has continued.
In 2013 they started up with test-fishing, and with good result. Hopefully soon we can see this river like in the good old days.
