The first time I heard her was on a Marcus miller live CD my neighbor had downstiars and I immediately ran down to ask who was that singign because the lower register was eerie how much it sounded like Donny. he said Lalah and it made every bit of sense then. I saw her do a tribute concert to Shirley Horn and Carmen McCrae a true jazz setting which she said was the first she had ever don. no Funk. Man, it was unreal. Speaking with her afterward I told her she sounded a lot like her father then saying she must get that a lot. She said no, then said I hope I am doing him justice my friend and I said OH YEAH. She seemed moved by that. She's got the genes that no one else can !
