Agree entirely. It's one of my forever and signature scents. Great for work and social occasions. Phantastic value, a steal, actually. Not dated, either. Pure class!
It really is a steal! I have been wearing Light Blue for the summer, but once the fall hits, this bad boy is coming out. So glad I got another bottle and particularly happy that I reviewed one of my all-time favorites!
I just bought my first bottle of this, and it landed yesterday. I totally agree with everything you've touched on in this video. I'm a mature guy, and I've been looking for workplace appropriate scents, and this is perfect. Thanks for a great review man✌️✌️✌️
I'm a big Bois du Portugal fan and that is why I sought out and like Lalique Pour Homme lion. Lion has some characteristics that BdP doesn't have. There is a je nais se qua (spelling?) in Lion's scent profile separate from BdP, although they are very similar. I wore them together a few weeks ago.
This, along with Lalique Equus, is on my "go to" shelf. Both are absolutely wonderful. My other absolute favorite is Jubilation Man XXV from Amouage, a Middle Eastern House... It's character is similar to these woody, herbal, "clean" types of fragrance. It's only drawback is that it's over $300 a bottle! Luckily, there's a "clone" from the house called Killer Oud and the clone is called "Jubilant"... A wonderful value at only about $45.00! Cheers
Oh, man, thanks for the Jubilation XXV clone recommendation! Check out my review on it...only one of two to ever get a 6/5 (bonus spray) spays in my review system. You and I share 2/3...love Lalique of course, but Equus didn't work for me (though I got a lot of compliments).
Very interesting! Did you like the clone? I love incense notes and was wanting a cheap, but quality alternative to Amouage Jubilation... maybe encre noire a l extreme
Hi Mr. Bobinksy8826, while we await his response, I'll just say now that I have Encre Noire A l'extreme and love it. I wouldn't say, though, this it is close to Jubilation...just my two cents. I'm like you...curious about Jubilant!
A classic that I haven't smelled. Only dipped my toes in the brand of Lalique with 4 bottles, with one I gave away (Lalique White which wasn't for me). Gotta try this one
I have bottles for all three Lalique Pour Homme'sand here is my ranking of them: 1. Lion 2. Equus 3. Le Faune I like all three but since I'm a big fougere and Creed Bois du Portugal guy, Lion obviously would be my favorite. I can't imagine someone not liking Equus, but that's the variability of noses. I guess if a hamster cage association is made it would be hard to get that out of one's mind. I get a highly idealized horse stable association, like a clean stable after powdered sugar is sprinkled on the hay. I don't think Lion is "barely" on the masculine side, I think it is decidedly on the masculine side.
Thanks for the comment! Others have told me the fragrance version of Equus (that is, not the after shave that I had) would be a better scent for me, so I am going to try it, actually. I appreciate your thoughts on the masculine side...I had so much reviewing a favorite of mine and I am going to wear it tomorrow in your honor!
Equus is my fav of the Lalique pour homme. I bought it by mistake thinking it was the lion one but I enjoy it more now that I have both. The opening is challenging but the dry down is so good… Nice review 💪🏼
Thanks for mentioning the dry down, Andre! I didn't care for Equus...smelled like a hamster cage, but I have to concede I got tons of (unsolicited) compliments on it. :) I am so happy you like Equus...in your honor, I just might have to give it a try again.
@@ThatCologneGuyyes please give it a try once more. You mentioned the after shave version, that one is probably punchier and not so refined as the EDP version. The EDP dry down for me gives that “dad vibe” because it’s so gentlemanly and cozy at the same time (despite the horse stable opening eheh). Regards from Portugal 💪🏻
