Fantastic gameplan by the ravens they realised that the boys couldnt stop the run so they drew up a vintage 2019 Lamar Jackson playbook

We gotta make the most of having Henry and Ricard with read options / power football. He’s proven to be a MVP QB but now we gotta let the run game dictate things again.

28:20 No sort of excuse for the throw or anything, but Lamar was visibly pissed on the broadcast getting that play call from Monken. At the time I wondered if he threw it into the dirt on purpose. He had a lot to say after the game about not being aggressive enough when up big
@edmundrussell6044
@edmundrussell6044 10 часов назад
I thought the same thing but after watching this video I can see now that Zay Flowers went too far up field on the play and Jackson was avoiding an INT. Also, the pass to Andrews was a miss because Andrews settled down when he should have kept running.

I would argue that Lamar is the best decisionmaker at the position in the NFL right now. Its rare that he makes a terrible decision, his bad or neutral plays are generally due to sloppiness with technique.

i agree. underrated smart guy
@wieters1275
@wieters1275 5 часов назад
I would call some of that extreme risk aversion more than elite decision-making. For example, I suspect one of the reasons why his deep throws don't connect is because he overthrows them so that either his receiver gets there or no one does. But sometimes an interception wouldn't be the end of the world on deep balls since it would be akin to a punt. That's not necessarily elite decision-making, but it is extreme risk aversion.
@joredet8521
@joredet8521 5 часов назад
As someone who has watched every game he’s played since coming into the league, I think that’s where he’s shown the most improvement. He’s always had the raw athleticism and even arm strength, but his decision making was what made people think he couldn’t throw the ball. He’s better than ever at protecting the ball now and he looks unstoppable.
@obtusemooose
@obtusemooose 3 часа назад
@@wieters1275 every qb does that. that is why there is so little deep passing in the nfl right now. offenses are extremely risk averse. also, decision making isnt just choosing which guy to throw it to, lol.
@wieters1275
@wieters1275 3 часа назад
@@obtusemooose No, a league-wide trend does not explain why Lamar’s efficiency has been near the bottom of the league for some time now on deep throws. And it’s not because he can’t make the throws; he has the arm strength to make them. It’s a matter of his ball placement. JT pointed this out in his breakdown of the deep pass to Likely in week one. He overshot it seemingly so that either Likely or no one would get to it when the better decision would have been to make it a jump ball situation. I appreciate that Lamar is allergic to interceptions, but I feel there are instances when he could make the decision that the risk is worth the reward.

That route by Bateman looks a lot like “WASP” The Chiefs ran with Tyreek in the SuperBowl. And it’s definitely by design… cuz Bateman surely doesn’t look back at Lamar! With Lamar’s ability to run the LB wouldn’t be able to get depth because Lamar is almost immediately looking to get on the edge… But it’s specifically to make that throw.

The Ravens had to go with the quick passing game due to weak protection and Lamar only had 3 incompletions, but of course all 3 incompletions are shown here in great detail lol.

They need to get Lamar under centre more. Been saying it since he’s been in the league he would excel more in passing game behind under centre especially with Derrick Henry in the backfield. Not sure why todd monken goes away from it!

On the TD throw to Bateman, that route is by design and it is the route Lamar thought Bateman was running at the end of the chiefs game where he missed in the endzone they spoke on it postgame week 1

21:00 where Bateman does the spike route to attack the safety we also ran when Lamar “missed Zay flowers” in the Chiefs game. I find it interesting that we attack the middle of the field with receivers as opposed to TE seams and use TE’s as PP or decoys in the red zone which is contradictory to what we’ve done over the past 4-5 years

JT, big fan of you work. Love to see it! I’m a Ravens fan, but I’m also a QB School fan. When I watch Ravens games, I can’t help but notice that in the second half, a lot of the architecture, and aspects of the quarterback play like footwork and reads just get muddy for the Ravens. I wanted to ask you about your experience with halftime, how does it affect the pace of the game, what do you do?

One amazing thing that a lot of people dont truly understand is that you can let a man be free in the run games as long as you control what they do. Controlling who the free man is and where they go with your reads is very advanced in terms of run schemes. Force hesitation or commitment and adjust on the fly based on that decision. Great passing qbs do a similar thing with their eyes for defensive backfielders.

20:05 Parsons runs zorro technique that’s suppose to stop this play. Squeeze the tackle hip and if QB keep it you chase him flat. If RB has it you fold over. Zorro always gives muddy picture in this case Lamar did correct thing he just didn’t realize Parsons technique is horrible 😂😂

Hit the ball into the pylon is just too risky from a fumble-out-the-side that happens a few times a year, and risky for stepping out of bounds. Get the score, then celebrate. Unless you have a good reason why? I like the idea of set it just inside or on the pylon, salute it, then walk.
