In 2014 anytime I heard lamar tease about Franklin's driving, just a mental image of a 18 or 21 yo Franklin doing aggressive 90°-180° spins on the steering wheel in my mind. Steady 5-6k rpm. Yeah I love seeing Franklin again in GTA online, but it just doesn't seem right to me that he now has a family- children who depend on him, yet he's still getting into life and death situations with Lamar every now and then. I get that GTA isn't exactly a serious game, and is like a parody of real life with what alot of characters say- but it still just don't seem right to me. It especially don't seem right that in the end he got together with Tanisha. He should have been over her and moving onto a new phase of his life.
Yep he explains that Franklin gets *really focused.* Nice way of explaining how they rationalize it. If you've ever been really focused on something, your perception of time does slow down a bit.
I really like the detail about Lamar noticing Franklin's special ability because he's the only character in the game who ever notices a special ability and it implies that he's a better friend to franklin than any other main character has

It's less a 'recycled' line than it is deliberate homage to Story Mode's first mission. Most of us playing this content in GTA:O hadn't played that mission in the better part of a decade, so the appeal to nostalgia was obviously R*'s intention.
I unironically love the world building Rockstar does in all their games. They're always trying to depict real people and gameplay elements are usually connected to the characters in an intrinsic way and explained by the fact that the character is just experienced at what they do. There's no like crazy background lore to explain how Franklin can do that, he's just a really good driver and we as the player experience it from a different perspective in a fun gameplay way. They did the same with Max in MP3, his crazy hyper competence is never explained, the character of Max is just that good in a shootout and that's all the explanation we need
Then you just dont know much.The slow motion idea actually came from Max Payne.Original Maxpayne-1,2 wasnt made by rockstar.It was by remedy.Then Remedy sold the franchise to rockstar,after that this slow motion ability literally borrowed from original Maxpayne idea and they put it in Gta-5.
people say “them mentioning it breaks my immersion” ah yes the immersion of the gta universe. talking animals, turning into animals, aliens trapped in ice, ray guns, laser mini guns, hover bikes, hover cars, cars with jet engines strapped to the back, I could really go on.
Of all things, Franklin and Michael's abilities make sense. If you're really focused on something, your perception of time literally slows down. Trevor? Well Michael calls it like it is; he's walking death. It's probably the most realistic part of the game

Loving the fact that they had Lamar remember the Employee of the month, but also used the same dialogue when taking off as in their first mission in the game
Actually Lamar knew about Franklin's ability on the story mode. There is some lines on a mission that talks about that (I don't remember the mission name but you have to chase a mf with Lamar's van)
the Ballas dude that Stretch kills later in the warehouse ambush, right? blimey I can't remember his name and the warehouse mission is one of my favorites to replay.
Michael is good at shooting, Franklin is a really good driver, Trevor though, idk how to explain. Maybe has something to do with the meth? Eh it doesn't really matter.
i really like all the references to the storyline they made in these missions, it shows that as much as theyve changed they still havent changed a bit😂
I remember a similar voiceline during that story mission where you play as chop and chase that dude off the motorcycle. While you are driving the van, Lamar says something along the lines of "Hes getting away. Do that thing where you focus real hard. You look like chop trying read when you do that" or something. Let me know if im wrong
This implies that Michael's ability to slow time and Trevor's ability to become invincible (and deal more damage) are also canon. If we get a DLC with Michael, I wouldn't mind a reference to his "supernatural accuracy". Maybe Trevor, too. Here's hoping, I guess.
You can kinda pin Trevor’s ability on his general badassary is thanks to his ability. Man survives everything thrown at him, except fire.. and iirc. Fire boots you out of his ability in game.
I love that they made these missions, its so cool seeing them add an ability to play as Franklin and even lamar in online in a lore friendly way as we get absolutely faded and then switch.
Happens in story too, on the mission chop when you use it on the van with Lamar, he says something along the lines of "look at you getting all concentrated and shxt"

Lamar says Franklin gets really concentrated using his ability. If you've ever been *really* focused on something, sometimes time feels like it's slowed down. I like to think of Mike and Franklin's abilities in that. Trevor's ability can be explained simply as his stimulant psychosis or something, it's Trevor though; best not to question things.
Franklin uses the Fujiwara zone. Instinctive driving mixed with wide angle vision Michael isn't using mad max bullet time, he's using Wesley Gibsons bullet time from wanted comic series not the movie because no bullet curving. So splatter vision with adrenal surge. And Trevor uses berserkergäng abilities
I remember i used it in story mode with lamar in the car once and he said "Man you look like chop trying to read when you do that" or something and it was absolutely hilarious
This reminds me of something kinda obscure, in the Hotwheels DLC for Forza Horizon 3, apparently the Hotwheels event people (in universe) notice the fact your player is able to rewind time to avoid crashes
There is a line from the mission Chop, where if you use your power when Lamar prompts you too while chasing D, he will say “Man you get all sex faced when you do that. You look like chop” or something along those lines.

The first time in the story when your driving the white van, and you use the ability, Lamar says something along the lines "man its so funny when you do that sex face being all focused and shit" and the first time I ever heard that I legit was like wait- is Franklin's ability cannon and not just a gameplay thing?
A question that arose when I saw this, this ability doesn't seem to be accessible in the DLC from what I'm seeing, so is it something that Rockstar didn't include or is it due to Franklin not feeling like using it?
