Ive found this to be true since buying my R8. I couldnt go anywhere in my lambo previously without a crowd gathering around. That shit gets old real quick.
I really agree with that last point. "Test drive and make sure you get what you want." Ultimately, you should be buying what makes you happy. If youre not smiling constantly from being in your car, youve got the wrong one
On point. I often get into my ‘91 300zx TT that I’ve got less than a tenth of the investment in than I do my V10 6MT R8 and honestly I flat out enjoy the driving experience of the Z 5x more. A driver’s car is to make yourself happy, and a supercar is simply to peacock. Obvious benefits to both, it just comes down to what your purpose is.
everyone always goes for a 4 door car, even when young, but the number of times you use them back seats is almost never. Unless your girlfriend likes it, it is just a waste of space,
I just bought a 2017 Gen 2 R8, and whilst it doesnt have the same flamboyance of my previous Gallardo, its absolutely miles ahead in terms of usability and comfort.
I love how honest this guy is and compares to cars where as other youtubers wont go in depth and that much detail, but like I still cant afford either and would def go for a 720s 🤷🏽♂️ (when I can! Soon, I hope)
Get ferrari... trust me... old one are nice and there alway demand for one..just not cheap to maintance and yet again.. super car... they all not cheap to maintance.
The price delta in Canada between the two used or new is huge. If you look on autotrader at 2018 v10 R8's vs. Huracan's, the price difference is over 100k. If you compare two 2020 models (there was no 2019 R8), the price delta between them new is over 150k. That's a lot of money for a badge. When you factor in ownership costs, plus the Audi stock warranty is 4 years new vs. 3 years for the Lamborghini, if price is even remotely a factor then its an easy choice. I'd rather be respected by people that know their cars for making a wise choice than by a bunch of kids that have no clue as to the similarities or dissimilarities between them. Great video and review, nice to hear an owners perspective.
Living in Munich theres a ton of r8 / Huracán drivers and i personally love the r8s looks softer sound and refinement. I've been lucky enough to drive an r8 and be a passenger in a Huracán and im absolutely hooked on the r8 :)
I'm a car guy and most of the RU-vid vids I watch are about cars, but I'm also obsessed with soccer. When I first started watching him (couple months ago) I had no idea he had anything to do with soccer. I love meeting people who love the same things I do because it's rare to find someone in America who loves soccer, and just makes the chances even slimmer trying to find someone like that also into cars!
@@AmbujKumarSingh216 I'm not saying he's American, I'm saying me living in America makes it hard for me to find people who are into these things. Lots of people are into cars, few people are into soccer, but it's rare to find people who are into both
Appreciate the comparison and luv the Alfa work, really cool plus the fact you're a fellow Ontarian, used to live in Burlington, keep up the channel, great to see, do a collaboration with the straight pipes," good Canadian kids", as Cherry used to say I hit the notification bell want to see more of that Alfa, thanks.
If I had the money(which I don't sadly) I think the biggest case for the r8 is that it's 90-95% the car in terms of performance ,at about a 100k price discount . It's also said to be practical on a daily basis.
Damn! That was something I was looking for. Thanks a lot for this review. Now I know I’m making right choice - R8 RWD is the way to go in my case. I would love to go with Huracane but it gets too much attention and I’m to tall for it... also the fact it is significantly more expensive is very important. But now I’m sure I will be more than happy in R8 RWD. :)
Audi R8 is better as a daily driver, a little more comfortable and user friendly than the Huracan, and if driven around the streets by normal people, there’s not much difference. However In the right hands on a race track, the Huracan will leave the R8 In the dust. Huracan is almost 1 minute faster around the nurbergring than the R8 and it’s aerodynamic design produces substantially more downforce than the R8.
As a 26000mi daily driven 2017 R8 V10 Plus (see my channel) you're assessment between the two is about spot on. Fun watch. Only correction the R8 does have an equivalent to the LDS but I spec my R8 with every option but that. It is awful and gives less feel to the road. Lastly stock P Zero tires suck on R8. Pilot 4S!
Huracan hands down. R8 is cool and all but doesn't even come remotely close to the theateics and road presence of even a first gen LP610 let alone a Perf/EVO or newer.
The lambos main selling point is the attention it attracts and the instant credibility (and jealousy) it engenders in business. The Huracan is the only Lambo worth getting unless you like long really expensive repairs where the whole rear half of the car needs to be disassembled. If you want classic looks and relatively good reliability and comfort go with a 911.
Different types of cars for different types of people! It would be a very boring world if everyone had the same tastes. Great explanation for both vehicles, and really they are both awesome cars, all boils down to the end user and how each car makes them feel inside. For myself, my Alfa QV makes me smile everytime I get in and drive it, so really it does not have to cost an arm and a leg to tickle my fancy lol Great video as always!
I can't afford either one, but I got sit in R8 at car show and I actually fit in it reasonably well, I couldn't even get in a Lamborghini Huracan. (6'4" 280 lbs.)that being said I would love to be able to afford a Lamborghini, but I would go for the Audi R8 V10.
I just bought a 2017 Audi R8 from a private party in perfect condition one owner 17k miles took it to dealer for service they changed the engine oil and transmission oil which they overfilled the transmission oil picked the car up started driving it transmission started slipping and not shifting anymore they ruined my dream car experience. Car still at the dealer trying to figure out what to do. Extremely upset and sad.
Robert Cottrell yes it was Audi of Ontario dealership! They are recommending to replace the whole transmission since both clutches are burned on it which they pay for it but I kinda don’t want an Audi R8 with a replaced transmission if that makes sense!
After owning three different gen 2 R8 and then now owning a Huracán Tecnica yes the difference is huge. If someone tells u R8 is a budget Huracan then nothing could b e further from the truth. If u can afford an R8 there is nothing wrong with it. its an amazing car but stop trying to justify the decision by saying its a better Money decision. Supercars are the worst money decision you will make to begin with so when you are entering the super car territory there is no thing such as a "better option for the money" there is no such thing. these things are money pits. Maintenance, fuel, storage, insurance and also liability on your shoulders.
The new R8 comes with a particulate filter. That reduces the sound a bit more and you dont get any pops and bangs either. Still I would choose the Audi R8 over the Lamborghini Huracan. Very informative as a point of view comparison.
If i would buy any of these two, my choice would be a Audi R8 for its comfort and short nose. And my reason for that is Norwegian roads and our ridiculous amount of speed bumps.
Brilliant analysis. Hugely valuable to me as a prospective R8 owner. Initially targeted a McLaren 12C until a dealer scared the crap out of me regarding ongoing maintenance costs. Thanks, bro!
“If you’re a little bit of a noob in these cars” -I know that wasn’t a diss and there’s no hard feelings but for some reason that almost made me feel upset😂😂😂
Very thorough comparison, and your perspective and opinion on what it's like to actually own and pay for a supercar is quite unique. It feels like the experience would be incredibly fun, but also sometimes a pain in the ass.
I just hate that they sound pretty much the same, it's a God damn Lambo they should have made it v12 like the Aventador that sounds just too good.(I cannot afford any of those atm this is just my opinion)
The fact you went back to the Lamborghini after owning the Audi and the Lamborghini speaks volumes. You know full well nobody cares about the Audi. People don't whip out their cell phones filming and Audi then brag about it to their friends lol. They only do that for Lamborghinis and Ferraris and other exotics. The Nissan GTR guys are in the same boat with the Audi R8. It's just an unnoticeable everyday looking sports car to most people who aren't car enthusiasts. Not to mention getting dates which most guys secretly purchased their cars for. Telling a woman you own a Nissan or an Audi is not impressive regardless of how much you spent on it. Telling her you own a Lamborghini pays for itself
Very very fair review, I have driven a few Huracan's including 2023 EVO. and you are correct the rake of the windshield and seating position and seeing that Lamborghini Logo just does something too you. Hard to go slow in Lamborghini.
But still r8 needs a frontlift system cuz many people lower it and scrapes in ramps. And lamborghini has better aerodynamics than the r8 and it is a LAMBORGHINII
Why bother lowering an R8? There is no benefit in terms of performance and likely it would impair performance as its specifically tuned for its ride height. I've seen quite a few R8's and driven a couple and never, ever seen one lowered. And the Lambo has better aerodynamics? I guess if you are exclusively tracking the car there might be value there but lets face it most people that buy these cars buy them to enjoy on the roads.
@@rc7016 dude what are u saying, lowering improves the downforce/better handling and there are tons of r8 in the youtube that has been lowered when more power is added and people always modify r8 and huracans, and yes the huracan has better aerodynamics that makes a huge difference, see in the thumnail the huracan has a sharp front end that makes drag co efficient less than the r8.
@@rc7016 and and another thing people enjoying in normal roads is true but they mostly go in rallies and some drag races or rolling races and there is an impact
@@zeeem4810 I think you are confusing youtuber's with the majority of car owners. I currently own an Audi (not an R8) and at the dealership regularly. Quite a few R8's in Toronto on the streets. RU-vidrs should not be indicative of the vast majority of car owners. They mod cars for views. I know probably a dozen people here that have expensive cars, Ferrari's, R8's, Lamborghini's, Aston Martin's. None of them including myself create youtube videos and certainly none of them have modified already fantastic cars.
@@rc7016 go and see bladed angel, he explains everything that why people modify cars! And the ferrari's, lamborghini's u saw might have been modified in the engine (80% sure) cuz modifying doesnt means the looks only. And yes they are fantastic cars but then why are there aftermarket parts. Only youtubers go there? No!! There are people who uses aftermarket parts. And if u can come to Las Vegas where there is SEMA and u can see tons of cars of people who participate and display their cars. And if u think that they only do it for SEMA, you are wrong.
I can only speak to the R8 since i have one... As a private person who does NOT enjoy attention, I can't imagine more attention than what I get in the R8. I know that the Huracan gets more attention (a friend of mine has a very well known one and one time at a car show I was parked next to his and literally I was mostly worried about people rubbing their bodies on my car to get a good picture of his car! ha ha hah But seriously, I did not get a Ferrari 488 for the same reason as the Huracan though I LOVE how the 488 and the Huracan look. If I had to pick, I'd go with the AWD of the Huracan and the dependability of the Huracan over the 488. But in reality, I can't stand the attention I already get, so neither one is in my near future.
Obviously if you have the money the lambo can be worth it depending on what style of car you like. In my opinion, for the money, the R8 is absolutely amazing
from a finacial point of view it´s much smarter to spend more and buy a performante than a normal lp-610 or an R8. i got both cars in my garage but. the R8 lost 50% of it´s value within 24months. the performante wich is a 2018 and by now 4 years old, is traded the same price it was brand new... sometimes even higher... for sure it´t because of the shortage of parts that corona brought but still, the R8 is sold half it´s price...
Is the Lamborghini worth more the money?? Me : Its not about the money its about wh whether you like it or not because when you buy a supercar you have to make sure that your spending the money towards the car you most like I mean honestly anyone can achieve getting a Huracan... Im saying this not because Im over dosing the possibilities Im saying this because I don't want people being like YOS bought A SUPERCAR! then they realised that they're hardwork was paid for something they did not ask for..... Money isn't a problem, But decisions... Takes *Work*
I would get the Audi R8 since it's cheaper than the lambo and basically it has the same engine both cars do so I would get the Audi R8 and also I would wrap it in a blue camo the only Lambo that I want is the urus
hey brother nice video. i own a Lamborghini Huracan and the point you have said about the lift system that you need to stop completely is false statement. You can lift it up while driving at low speed and if you accelerate it will automatically goes to its place:)
I know right? Seems silly but I've been keeping a close eye on used R8's (V10 post 2014 when the new dual clutch was released) and plan to drive it daily in summers. Cup holder is a necessity. There is a reason Doug Demuro checks cup holders on every car he reviews because its a surprisingly relevant feature.
i have a huracan 610-4 now and had r8. huracan experience is way better and i love my huracan more. the r8 was fun and practical but i just enjoy my huracan more.i can put it in strada and have confrence calls and in auto mode and no one would ever know im in lambo and i can just cruise. then i can go to corsa and speed if i want. r8 is the best bang for buck v10 platform though if price is a factor. just cant beat options on r8 and creature comforts.
I'm in Oakville as well and was wondering what insurance you are with? i'm upgrading from my 2017 M3 to a 2017 R8 and i found out my insurance won't insure a car over 500 hp and turns out its a common thing.
You’re so right about the infotainment system in the Lamborghini it’s like They weren’t even thinking when they Inc. Apple CarPlay try using Waze you cant see anything else on the screen. The sound absolutely sucks and the menu navigation is just a pain in the ass. But at the end of the day all the focus is on the engine
Little did he know at this time that the entire used sports car market went batshit insane a few months later. But he spoke the truth on the comparison.
Genuinely had no idea you had so much money before you plugged this channel on the Nike boot review. Been watching SR4U content for years, but I had always assumed you were just making average money. Congrats. I’m delighted for you that it’s worked out so well.
