LaMelo Ball and Spire Institute had a 9AM scrimmage this morning and to no surprise, they had the gym packed to the max. The Ball show continues and this year his partner in crime will be 4-star guard Rocket Watts. Together they form what could be the most entertaining backcourt in high school basketball this year!

Lamelo is on a team where he doesn’t have to score. Shot over 60% from the field, doesn’t even have to assert himself as scorer. Just distribute and play smart defense without fouling. That's because he's been with the team, I'd bet. Melo is still trying to figure out how the game works over at Spire and he's used to playing Cali style. Give him about 2 months and I guarantee he'll be dropping 20-30 nightly.

@@150hassan5 I'd say it also has something to do with adjustments made from his new size. Rocket Watts is 6'3 and 18 years old, he's a normal size for his position and is also a grown man. Lamelo is 17, and grew to be 6'7, which was completely unexpected and now has to deal with the challenges that come with being an oversized guard. He's yet to grow into his body and get his grown man size, just his grown man height. Obviously agility and body control will be a little off until he works on getting it all back together with a 3 inch taller frame.

Man y’all be overhyping this dude. I’m not saying he doesn’t have skills, but damn, let him earn something. He makes a lot of terrible basketball decisions, he doesn’t play defense, and he is on engaged in the offense when he has the ball in his hands. I saw at least 2 other players on his own team that should have got the title of this video, but you have to try to get viewsI guess. Even if it gets a thumbs down because he showed very little in this game beside maybe 1 shot and 1 pass. 🤦‍♂️

He plays exactly the same no matter if it’s a scrimmage, in fitness first, or in a real game. He’s a lazy player who is only interested in his own highlights and has no sense for TEAM. And has never shown that he has a good basketball iq. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Robert Howell he was playing guard, so he should naturally be good at open threes. There really wasn't that much risk, and I've seen NBA players do the same.

Robert Howell I do agree it was riskier, but take into consideration that this was a completely open shot coming from a good pass. If we assume he has curry's 3 point percentage, then we can also conclude that he has the same open 3/practice percentage, which is well over 44%. I completely agree it wasn't completely worth it, but sometimes low reward is worth the risk.
