This couple's story is so rich with life and love lessons. Melody genuinely loved Martell and I think she left when she understood there was nothing left to salvage. To reconcile with a weak man knowing it would not work while mentally preparing for battle, burn it all down and rebuild is such a testement of Melody's strength. Those who long for a reconciliation cannot understand the depth of Martell's betrayal or why she won't return to him. It is interesting that you mentioned how Martell may parent Knox as Martell is beginning to physically resemble his father.
Martell is missing the lifestyle he had with Melody, if he could find a comparable replacement for Melody who could provide him with the same lifestyle he wouldn't be publically pining away for her. When it comes to Narcissists, it best to keep the no-contact in tact, especially the physical contact because those children will again see many more blow ups before it's all said and done. Loving his children is one thing but caring about their well-being is another. Kids are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for. They are two years in and noone can EVER make me believe they miss the abusive and toxic exchanges between their parents. They are thriving, they are in counseling and they are being loved and taken care of.
